Very complicated selection

Hi everyone

I am following the threads of this forum and the James Ritson tutorials to improve my technique making selections, but I find this photo in which I cannot make a decent selection of the girl's hair even though I perfected the initial selection with the refine tool with all the options.
I know there is no magic method, but can anyone think of an idea for this case?

Hi epicteto,

I think the trouble with parts of the selection is due to the darkness of the hair and background in places.  You could try adding a Brightness and Contrast adjustment to boost the brightness of the image, make the selection and refine it, then delete the Brightness and Contrast adjustment layer.
