Using Affinity Photo 1.8.2 on Mac OSX 10.15.3

I cannot open anything from the "Open Recent" menu without getting a message stating that "The file could not be open because permission was denied."

There's no problem opening a file from the regular "Open" dialogue, but once it is in the "Recent" list, it won't open from there. This is true even if I open a file for the first time, close it, then immediately try to reopen it from the "Open Recent" list. I've cleared the list and started from scratch with no change.

All of the files that I'm trying to open are on an Internal HDD which is not the startup disk (the startup is an OWC Aura Pro X2). No problems accessing the files from other apps, terminal, etc, ... just from the "Open Recent" dialogue of Affinity Photo.

Any help?

Thanks,

Bill Lyon

p.s. I have a video screen capture of this if it's of interest and there's a place I can upload it.

It's not something we have come across before, the Open Recent is an OS level option on the File menu dropdown, not one we control. If you open System Preferences > General and set the Recent Items option to None. Then open Photo, start a new file close and then enable the option again and test.
