ahTOKYO Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 (edited) Hi, I was working on a design and the app crashed whilst I was messing with text spacing. After reopening the app and clicking on the design it says “Loading failed - Unable to load document”. When I try to save the design the app crashes every time. When I try to duplicate it the app does nothing. I noticed during setup that auto save was on, but it is named untitled and I can’t see a file anywhere on my iPad to back it up somewhere safe so I don’t lose hours of work. When I try to close the file it says my changes will be lost. How can I stop this crash and get access to the file to go somewhere safe? Edited March 7, 2020 by ahTOKYO Quote
DM1 Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 With iOS and affinity auto save only updates the apps 'sandbox' memory. The files in this area can only be accessed with affinity app (or in some cases specialist recovery software). A safe workflow involves the following steps: 1. Start or open new file. In Workscreen Document menu select Save a Copy. Navigate to a save location, name file and save. Now exit the file (back arrow top left corner). 2. In Project screen locate and delete the icon associated with the file you just started.(tap hamburger menu then tap close). This clears it out of sandbox. 3. Use Open from Cloud and navigate to the location where you previously saved your new file. Select file and open it. Now you will find a Save option in the Document menu. When you use this to save changes, or use back arrow to exit workscreen, your edits will be saved in the original file. The icon appearing in project screen is the sandbox version of your new file. When you want to open the new file just tap the project icon (it is now linked to the physical file). 4. Make backups of your stored files and save them elsewhere. There are .afdesign/.afphoto files. 5. Don’t use Save on hamburger menu or you will break the link between sandbox version and physical file. Have fun. Save often. If something gets corrupted just reload (Open from Cloud) your physical file. Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen).
