Good afternoon!

I just stumbled over a video on Youtube where a guy explains some of the new features of the Affinity 1.8 apps.
I could see this guy was able to add another column of tools which seems to be pinned to the right studio.
Now I was wondering how he managed to do this? Looks like he’s using the Windows version, but I wasn’t able to make Affinity Publisher doing the same on my Mac.
I attached a screenshot from this video to show you what I mean.

Is it really possible to add a second column of tools that is pinned to the right/left studio?

Or am I missing the forest for the trees?

Thanks very much in advance!

A couple of things, one Yes it is the windows and no we can't pin them on the Mac (resigned sigh). Two those aren't 'Tools' that you have outlined in red they are Panels from the View > Studio > Assets / and / Stock. On Mac we can have them float over on the right but they won't be pinned. Grab the tab

Stock in this example, and pull it away from its location. Tip, if you double click on it you can collapse it to hide it. You can place it wherever you want.

A double set of tools can be achieved by going to View > Customize Tools... and you'll see something like this:

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Thanks for your reply! :)

Yes, you're right, I meant panels and not tools. My bad!

Is there a reason why pinning a second column of panels is not possible on macOS?
I'd love this feature, as I like to have the full overview of all panels I need without having to collapse them.
I know that floating panels could be a workaround, but they're always somewhere in the document I'm working on, so that's not really what I like to do.

I think it is down to the Mac OS handling this sort of thing differently to the point of having to re-write libraries and maintain them (re-invent the wheel with all the costs that would entail for Serif/Affinity), pure speculation on my part.

Okay, I see...hmm...maybe this feature will be implemented in the macOS version some day, would be super awesome!

Just out of curiosity: Is there someone from Affinity who could confirm that it's technically really impossible to add this feature in the macOS versions?

Thank you in advance!
