Using the brush tool for selective masking

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I'm using Affinity Photo for a little while now and now I have a little problem:

When I use a mask for controlling the places where the "Brightness/Contrast" adjustment has to be, I make a new group (as shown in the video below) and make a mask in here. The problem I have (as the photo shows) is that the image I was editing turns into white and grey blocks after I have place the mask in it.

So when I want to start painting with the brush, I erase the white/grey image and I see my original image through it but it doesn't work the way like the video shows.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi Rowin van den Berg,

Looks like the screenshots didn't upload and are still sitting on your Desktop.

I've just followed the steps and could get the grey blocks.  Could you attach your afphoto file or another screenshot showing the issue?
