How to paint on an adjustment layer

Recommended Posts

This question is regarding the Video tutorial "Affinity Photo - Sky Replacement" (https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/tutorials/photo/) at 04:57,

where you paint on an "Reversed" Adjustment layer - "Bright-Contrast Adjustment".

I'm not able to Paint on the Reversed Adjustment Layer with the "Paint Brush Tool", It has no effect.

I replay many times this Video Tutorial many times, but still cannot find what I missed.

I saw the "Paint Brush Tool" has NO preview and has NO effect on the layer.

Did I miss anything or there is a configure I need to set to achieve this?

A screen capture on my affinity photo was attached.

Pls advise.

Many thanks.

Seth

Hi KingoftheRoad,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

Make sure the brush colour is set to white. If the mask is totally black (because you inverted it) is has no effect on the layer/image below. So to reveal the effect of the adjustment layer you need to paint with white on the mask on the areas you want to put the adjustment back in.
