Here's my first Instrument Panel done mainly in Designer. There are a few imported Photoshop elements from previous panel illustrations. These are used as training aids for student pilots. The individual instruments an be configured to represent a particular flight attitude, too. I am staring to get used to the 'thinking different' that Designer takes, compared to my lived-in-for-thirty-plus-years Photoshop. Enjoy!

Sorry if this has been discussed before. As a "traditional" technical illustrator, i.e. I learned on a drawing board, I am confused about how the isometric tools are supposed to work. I understand the basics but am confused with the results. I am using a 15° x 15° dimetric here. Traditional illustration states that with an ON AXIS ellipse the minor axis should be at a 15° angle (parallel with the drawing plane) with the major axis perpendicular to the minor axis. When I use the isometric tool this does not happen. (see the attachment please). There is some skewing or somewhat perspective type of adjustments being made here that is not making sense to me. Perhaps there is someone out there with a similar background as myself that could please explain to me the expectation of this tool? Note: In the attached example the image on the right started as a 2D image, I then used the Fit to plane command to create the final position.

Hi! Just created groups under the Styles Tab for standard line width sets (along the British Technical Drawing Standards). Thought maybe someone else would find it neat to have these. Here goes! - BTD Narrow Line - BTD Graphic Symbols - BTD Wide Line - BTD Extra Wide Line Also made a style group containing all pen variants: - Technical Pens BTD Extra Wide Line.afstyles BTD Graphic Symbols.afstyles BTD Narrow Line.afstyles BTD Wide Line.afstyles Technical Pens.afstyles

Something that is missing from Adobe Illustrator, and would be good in Affinity Designer are Technical Illustration Tools:- Isometric Grid, allowing constraint along 30º as well as vertical Isometric elipses (35º Elipses, with minor axis constrained to Grid Axis) Ability to join circles and ellipses with a tangent line tool, connecting one circle to another with a line. Ability to delete line or curve up to another intersecting line / lines / curves with a key stroke. 1 Draw a line or curve, 2 Draw two additional lines / curves, both overlapping original at different locations, 3 Select the middle part of the first line / curve 4 Press a key to delete the part of the line / curve up to each of the intersecting lines curves. 5 Option to select multiple lines / curves and perform this to all of them at the same time would be living the dream :-) Thanks Gaz 3dtp Ltd

Technical illustration of a carburetor from a small Subaru engine. The pressure profile for stroke widths makes thick/thin transitions easy.
