Thank you for replying @walt.farrell, As you can see in the video I posted above, there are certain 1bit files rendered blurry in AP but clearly in AD. These files cannot be edited in Photo persona because they are blurry, but they could be edited in the Designer persona if the pixel tools would exist there. I hope this is a better explanation than my first.

As my post and screen recording show clearly above — Photo persona is the one where pixel editing is impossible. There are multiple instances on the iPad where Photo persona renders pixels blurry and AD correctly, and vice-versa. Also — the post is about the fact that on the iPad, Affinity Designer lacks the raster persona in StudioLink. Because some 1bit files are rendered blurry in AP and clear in AD, and other 1bit files blurry in AD and clear in AP — having pixel brush tool available in both Photo and Designer persona is very important.

In StudioLink, Affinity Designer 2 for iPad lacks the raster tools that can be accessible in the stand-alone AD2 app. In my opinion this is a major issue for those of us who work with 1bit files and use the pixel brush tool because Affinity renders pixels differently in AD and AP (an issue already reported which devs hopefully are aware of). A good workaround for this, I think, would be to have the pixel tool accessible in AD2 through Studiolink. If I have a 1bit file rendered correctly in AD2 (and blurry in AP2) which needs modifications with the pixel brush tool, having the raster tools accessible in StudioLink AD2 would solve the issue. Such an example is in the video below — it’s impossible to use the pixel brush in AP2 because the pixels are blurry.

I was correcting a pattern file with the pixel brush, using StudioLink, in AP. All of the below crashed the app: saving as a PNG or any other format saving from outside the document saving with external keyboard shortcuts cmd+s and shift+cmd+s Rasterising the pattern file before saving doesn’t help. Rebooting device as well. I was using a test file and no work was lost Video: https://www.veed.io/view/3ae86359-ef2b-4013-98d3-5196c7f5c11a?sharingWidget=true&panel=share

Frequent crashing & work not always being saved completely
iuli replied to ogdredweary's topic in V2 Bugs found on iPad
Hi @ogdredweary, To set a signature go to your username/ Account Settings and you can find the option Signature there (it’s the last one in the list) (Although I don’t know how much a new account has to wait to have the option unlocked) -
Happened on M1 iPad. I’ve hidden my replies below because they are irrelevant to this post, which is a bug report. The only important thing is for the devs to be aware of this bug, everything else doesn’t really matter. Kind regards.

Grid not working and no direct option to rename file
iuli replied to Kianne's topic in V2 Bugs found on iPad
@DM1, no settings that I could think of. It’s most likely an M1/M2-specific bug and I will report it as such later (it’s 2am here). Have a nice day! -
Frequent crashing & work not always being saved completely
iuli replied to ogdredweary's topic in V2 Bugs found on iPad
StudioLink just crashed when I was saving the document, and all the changes were lost. The auto-save was set to 30 but it didn’t make any difference. It’s obviously my fault for not saving. Edit — document is unusable. I can enter the app but the file freezes and crashes APub after this I got a message that my iPad has no more space. Affinity Publisher just got to 69gb making my iPad barely usable: The good news is that I can save everything (the rest of the projects), reinstall and call it a night. Or morning. -
Grid not working and no direct option to rename file
iuli replied to Kianne's topic in V2 Bugs found on iPad
Hi @DM1, The floating grid is nothing new, and probably the devs are aware that pixel brush tool doesn’t work over it either. -
@Chris B — you’re right, it happens on a M1 iPad (11 inch, 256gb)

Grid not working and no direct option to rename file
iuli replied to Kianne's topic in V2 Bugs found on iPad
Since this is grid-related — the pixel brush tool doesn’t align with the 1bit grid. -

Vector Warp - awesome, but...

Yes, absolutely ; in other drawing/vector apps too (now everyone has it) -
Vector Warp - awesome, but...

You’re right, Procreate is awesome, and many artists are purchasing expensive iPads only to draw with it. But lately I’ve seen people so amazed by Affinity 2.0 for iPad that they purchased iPad especially for it too. Someone new to Affinity ordered his M2 iPad after visiting these forums the other day, and social media is full by similar comments. I think that Affinity 2.0 is starting to change people’s way of thinking at what an iPad could do for professionals. V2 seems like a game changer. -
V2 Designer - adding Textures/Paper inserts unavailable

Long-pressing on an asset works as well. -
It makes certain workflows difficult, especially when working with StudioLink, because there are raster files which Photo renders as 1bit crisp files while the same files are being rendered blurry by Designer, and vice-versa. Please forgive if this has been posted before — I could not find it. Also, I do not try to find Affinity weaknesses or to make Affinity looking bad or anything like that — I only post what I think that are issues in my personal workflow, and 1bit files used to be a big part of it. Kind regards.

Saving a 1-bit black & white graphic
iuli replied to Aficionado's topic in Feedback for the V1 Affinity Suite of Products
As far as I can tell, there’s still no support for 1bit crisp bitmaps on v2 Affinity for the iPad. Can anyone confirm if the desktop version has it? Kind regards. -
I think that the issue comes from importing the bitmap file in Fill, which already looks blurry before making the Style. I recorded the process with 1bit Frankentoon file below. Unless I’m still missing something — at least on the iPad I think it’s impossible to make 1bit pixel ‘’perfect’’ Styles. Tried with all the apps and SL. Kind regards. (Below a recoding showing that even using a 1bit Frankentoon file, extracted from a Style, properly saved and following the Style creation as it should, the resulting Style is still blurry)

I make a 1bit 128 x 128px pattern with the Pixel Brush Tool. I need the pixels to be crisp for printing. It has to be 1bit for artistic reasons but because otherwise the end project would reach gigantic proportions too. But when I save it as a style it gets blurry. I use it as the exact dimensions the pattern was made, 128x128. I make no transformations with the fill handle to it, yet the result is blurry and not usable. It looks the same in other software as well. Please help — how do I make a style from a 1bit pixel pattern without the resulting style becoming blurry? Kind regards!

To my shame I had no idea, and I like to think I search enough before posting. Thanks for the heads up, will modify the post accordingly.
