  1. For the transparency tool, all of the options seem to be based on gradients. Could the option be added for uniform/solid transparency? Basically, i would want to click an object with transparency tool, choose uniform/solid as my transparency type, set percentage to 30% for example, done. No need to edit the gradient slider to gray on both ends to simulate a solid fill. There is a fill button on the bar now, but when clicked the box says no fill and doesn't seem to do anything.
  2. This might already be in here somewhere, but i didn't see a setting for it. When you drag an object off of the page onto he workspace background, the object is hidden behind the gray area, reminiscent of how Photoshop works. Usually in vector drawing apps, the off-page background is an area that you can use as workable space to place extra vectors or elements you want to edit separately or save or use later. I tend to use this area quite a bit, not sure about anyone else. Are you planning an option to allow the gray area to show vectors on top instead of hiding them? Screenshot shows side-by-side with illustrator to demonstrate. I never know if I'm explaining things right, haha!
  3. Hi I'm Tony. Professional Graphic Designer and part time Microstock Illustrator. First time Affinity user with the Designer beta. Highly impressed! This may just break my 13 year long love-hate relationship with CorelDraw and windows as a whole! Who wants to save room on his Mac by deleting his Windows Virtual Machine? This Guy!
  4. Raspberry Pi Game System, Retropie and Super Mario Advance 4 for GBA are on my mind, haha

  5. Corel and Illustrator put "Combine/Make Compound Shape" on the right click menu of selections containing multiple shapes that can be combined, and "Break Apart/Release Compound Path" on the right click context menu of compound shapes. Maybe add "combine" and "break" to the boolean buttons on the menu bar to allow these more flexible functions? It would be a real time saver. Thanks lots! You can see from my cartoons that I really appreciate a vector app with really good curve editing! Designer is working out GREAT so far!!
  6. There seems to be a missing command for: "Combine" (corelDraw ctrl-L) OR.... "Compound Path" (Illustrator cmd-8) Same function, different names (Given your preference in OLD vector programs) Basically, the need to select multiple objects, whether touching or overlapping, to creating boolean shapes with one action. See attached screenshot, you should be able select all of these and click "Combine" or "Create Compound Path" and create 3 donuts (holes in the circles) from this selection. Right now the Geometry menu doesn't seem to have a function that performs this way. Let me know if I didn't explain this very well, though anyone who's worked with vectors should know what I'm talking about, haha.
  7. Thanks for your reply! I've been waiting for a Mac vector drawing app that has proper node/bezier editing for a long time, and Designer is just about perfect!!! Up to this point I've had to resort to virtualizing CorelDraw on VMWare with all the terrible performance you'd expect. As for the double vs single click for editing, maybe this would be an option to add to preferences? Default to 1 click, but allow the option for double? Every user who has been waiting for a good replacement to coreldraw in their mac workflow would send virtual hugs for that one. If it's too much trouble though, i can adapt, hahaha! You definitely gained a customer either way when the full app is launched! Thanks!!
  8. Awesome! if one of the two can be exported, i'll be happy. SVG always messes up colors when opened in alternate programs and as for PDF, you never know what will happen. Def need one of the 2 stable vector standards. Thanks for the link, i'll have a read! :-D
  9. This one needs little explaining. Major microstock sites (iStock, Shutterstock, Fotolia, etc) all require EPS v3 or AI8/AI10 as required file formats. Though EPS is an old standard, it is still one that is prevalently used and required by lots of vector illustrators.
  10. Currently, a single click on a line with the editing tool adds a node to the line. This can be slightly disruptive, accidental single clicks result in extra nodes that need to be deleted. Corel Draw has a novel approach to this, instead of a single click on the line, you double click to add a node to a line, and another double click on any node will delete it. This function makes mouse edits quick and intuitive because the same action both adds and deletes, and keeps mistakes at a minimum since a double click is harder to accidentally input than a single click.
  11. When you draw a line with the pencil tool, and let go of the mouse, the line completes. If you proceed to try to continue the line by clicking on the end node and continuing to draw, each line will be a separate object. It would be best, if after drawing a complete line, clicking on the end node of either side would allow you to continue drawing on the same object. Also, when you draw a complete shape, it should automatically close when the two ends touch. Currently they are disjoined and will snap together when the last node is hovered over the first, but to save time, this should just happen while drawing the original line.
  12. The node tool's convert options are: Sharp - straight lines in either direction Smooth - hammers stay connected, moving one moves the other Smart - seems to duplicate the effect of Smooth Much like Corel Draw, it would be good to add a Cusp option, which breaks the smooth node and allows both direction hammers to move independently of the other. This is currently possible by holding option and moving one of the hammers, but i personally find switching this out with a button to be more useful to convert more than one node at a time for quick editing. Given there is a lot of real-estate on the context sensitive toolbar, this would probably be easy to add. --- Also wanted to give you props for being the first OSX vector drawing app that has figured out how to do bezier curves correctly.
