Hi,
congrats to the folks at serif for the fine affinity photo app. Since i switched from Windows to Apple/IOSX i missed my old Photoshop 7.0 for Windows. Now, that i tried AP for several days i feel comfortable and can do all the things i did with Photoshop.
I use the IOS Photos-App for collecting my JPEG-Copies of the developed and evtl. edited RAW-Files. Sometimes i want to open one of my old pictures from f.e. 2002, which are exclusively stored in the Photos-App. The only possibility i've found, is to drag the file out of photos for iosx on the Desktop and from there into Affinity photo.
Would be smart to do this directly from affinity photo. Perhaps a topic for one of the following updates.
Greetings from germany and please excuse my scary english :) ,
Tom
Try this. It worked for me with Aperture. Go to Affinity Photo/ PREFERENCES/photoshop plugins Then browse to folder where your Photo's are. Of course, if you are archived on the cloud it won't work. But my Aperture folder is on a huge external drive and I can now browse it through the Media Browser.

Re Media Browser not working :- I tried again this morning ... some folders in Photos work but Aperture seems to return empty.
OS x 10.10.3 Affinity Photo 1.2.1.26379 . So far my fix has been to open Aperture and round trip to Affinity Photo. That gives me Apertures database.
I noticed an alternative library editor system called 'Emulsion'. I did not try it as I am getting loaded with 'alternatives' to test. However, it may be a model for an improved (and working) MB?It is interesting that with this and Aperture you can batch process the processing and the meta. 'Lift and Stamp' was a very clever and useful facility.

In my opinion Picasa and iPhoto as well as the new Photo App are just really bad. The worst thing about Apples Photo Apps is that they want to keep their own folder structure, but my workflow is to organize the folders in the file system and I just need a lightweight viewer to switch through the Photos after a shoot and delete the bad ones.
The key points I´m looking for are
1. display Photos in Fullscreen mode, go back and ahead with the arrow keys
2. being able to delete photos by pressing backspace
3. zooming in (this should be easy for Affinity ;) )
4. see Camera Settings in Grid mode (ISO, f, exposure time..)
A rating system is not primary necessary to me, as well as showing videos, not necessary.
I would really love to have these 4 key functions!!
Please do this ;) it´s low hanging fruit!
I agree, though for me the best database is the Aperture one. It has everything. Of course, it has not ported in its entirety to Photos, but this does indicate that it should be achievable using Mac OS to match the , keywords, star ratings and smart albums into Affinity.

Scrolling through all the pre-sets can make the menu unwieldy.
In the interests of tidiness can these have a drop down option to display them, or a pop up when you access that part o the menu. Rather than always there?
Action in preferences?

Also if you can share with Picasa you have g+ access and can share with others. There are lots of TV interfaces available that operate from tablets or computers - I would not rate this as anywhere close to a priority.
Apple photos are on catch up there.

In Affinity Photo It would be nice to have an option to export to a particular size. (That could be saved as a preset, and set as a default)
In particular an enriched drop down on the Export menu with a range of popular or custom sizes.
I export to G+ photos and would like to keep below the 2048px limit.
I am sure others have their favourite sizes.
Many thanks, so far loving it all.

Ok thanks, with my trackpad - Wacom pen I use 'cmd click' Nice and tidy now!

The new beta works well with the B/W sliders. I saved a raft of B/W presets (too many) how can I remove some of them? ie:- delete a preset?

That is not what I meant.
Picasa appears as an app on many smart Tvs. It is a platform for viewing. Actually very popular with many. It's not tablet or computer dependent. It just means that you can view your albums from the TV.

They don't seem to do anything. (also B/W) I had this working once in an earlier beta.

Phew! I had this too with the Selective Colour. I hope that is fixed also

Two rings or marquees (scrolling ants?) the outside indicates the size the inner one to indicate the softness / feather.

I do find the icons a bit small so grabbing the dodge and burn brush is a bit hit and miss. Can I suggest a dock on the top or the bottom to place the favourite brushes?
Also take a look at the brush HUD on Aperture. Conveniently placed at the bottom. Call the brush, select the mode (including contrast and a few others you don't list), then you get to the tool control panel (HUD) to adjust. Also as it deposits all the adjustments in your list of edits you can kill them and make further adjustments and modifications later. It is a slick interface and slips into the workflow well.
I mention this as so far you are looking very like Photoshop but in fact you may well gather a lot of disaffected Aperture users.

Ok, all fixed and I can see my Aperture library and import everything perfectly.

With Picasa Web albums featuring on a lot of smart TV's I think this is an important platform.
-
When you are browsing through multiple documents that have been loaded, it would be helpful to have a tick on the current document showing, clearly you want to choose another --- and all the numbers look similar.
-
Agree. I have problems opening Aperture libraries. I can see some iPhoto files. The media browser is an important tool and I could imagine a little criticism when this is compared with the excellent Aperture database and facilities. Still I can imagine that this is on your radar... good luck.

Cracking image. How did you do the background? Subtle face smooth too.
Sure that it was only a morning? Still learning to navigate around the menus. Well done.

Yes this is a very important feature. The Aperture database is excellent. The features of search and all the tagging options are one of the primary reasons why pro users love it.
Now if it's dead in the water, this will provide Serif with an excellent opportunity to profit from the disaffected users. So please make sure that the media management is up to scratch. So far very impressed.

Also duplicate the current edited version.
Very handy to quickly try out a load of ideas. Colour or B/W

This did not show up my Aperture library at all. Then I added it via preferences/ photoshop plugins browse through to the Aperture library and it was there.
