  1. I think a professional design area would be great. Print Design would be fine as well. If there were a bunch of sub-forums then Book Design might be good as well, as it has its own challenges.
  2. I'm using a font that has a number of alternate glyphs. One in particular, for the number 1, I want to use all the time (as the normal number 1 looks like an I). I'm actually having trouble setting it. At best it seems inconsistent. I seem to be able to set it to by selecting 'Stylistic Alternate 1' in Typography, or by selecting 1 in Stylistic Alternates in the style settings, but these don't always work. Are they exactly the same thing? Is there another way to do it? Is there something that could prevent those settings from taking effect? Right now I set both of those in my footnote style, and the glyph isn't changing. Is there a way to set a specific alternate glyph to be used? As it just switch the number 1? Thanks.
  3. It only happens when the left and right pages of the spread have different master pages applied to them. I wonder if this is a bug related to the fact that the items on the right side show up even if only the left side is applied (and visa versa). I've always found that weird, and never heard a good explanation as to why that was done.
  4. I guess it isn't possible to see if a page has multiple text frames with the same name? Maybe when scripting is implemented (if scripting is implemented).
  5. I have more than I use. Remnants of my original setup when I didn't understand as much as I do now (which admittedly isn't enough or I wouldn't be having this problem).
  6. Here's a video showing what I'm seeing, which is multiple copies of text frames within the same master. Forget the second example I mention at the end, I thought it was different, but it ended up being the same problem. I still don't understand why if you apply a master to the left page of a spread, that the frames from the right page of the spread also show up in the list. double-textframes.mp4
  7. Are you sure it can display more than one master in either place? I think I've figured out what the two masters are. I moved some stuff around awhile back and I see that one of the headers is .2 points to the left of the other one. That would explain the bold text, but I still can't figure out how to identify where this is happening. If I didn't mess up that header, I would never know this was going on.
  8. I'm seeing the same thing. It shows me one master, but the header is still doubled. If it's not two masters, then does anyone have a different explanation of what is happening?
  9. I'm attaching a video. It shows me hovering over the page where it shows one master page, but it seems like there are two. Does it only show one master page? Is there any other way besides hovering to see which masters are applied? doubled-masterpage.mp4
  10. Thanks everyone. Is there a way to find all pages with more than one master applied?
  11. I'm sure there is a simple answer to this, but when I'm working in Publisher, how do I see which Master Page is applied to the page I'm looking at? Also, is it possible to have more than one master applied to a page? I'm seeing something weird where some text is doubling up, but when I apply the correct master to the page it goes away. I think it's happening because there are two possible masters I could use on that page, and one of them has the text frame slightly moved from the other. However, that would mean two masters would be on that page. Is that even possible?
  12. The reason I'd like a forum specifically for typesetting issues is there is no forum for it. It's not a bug, it's not a feature request, it's people with everyday issues like how to best get rid of orphans, widows and runts. How to format a table of contents. Certainly these issues come up with many people. They're not feature issues. It would be helpful to be able to go through the issues others have had, and see how they solved those issues. Search is nice, and of course people should properly title their questions, but it doesn't replace being able to scroll through all typsesetting issues and seeing how those issues are solved. Sure, one can go on other forums for this, but I just thought it would be helpful for Affinity Publisher users to have a place to share their issues. It would also probably help the developers to see the ways people are dealing with the issues, what workarounds they need to use, and see if they can make people's lives easier.
  13. Unfortunately, there seems to have been a problem uploading the video, and I can't find it locally. I only posted the link because I was short on time, but now it seems the video file is missing. Sorry. Hopefully the crash logs are clear enough.
  14. Can you add a forum for discussing typesetting issues in Publisher? Most typesetting sites online assume InDesign. It would be nice to have a place to discuss typesetting where everyone is using Publisher. Thanks.
  15. Here's a video of the 8th crash. https://share.zight.com/WnuXg0yD I was doing the exact same thing as the 6th and 7th. Crash log attached. Oddly, I'm not sure why I needed to do what I was doing. The text was overflowed, but I have no idea why. Last time I saw that page it looked fine. So I started deleting empty lines until my text showed up at the bottom of the page, and then it crashes. The first 5 crashes were not the exact same action, but happened in a fairly short period of time. Affinity Publisher 2 Beta-2024-03-28-194231.ips
  16. 7th crash. This was identical to the 6th one. I did record it, but I'm having problems getting the recording. I'm going to try another time. Affinity Publisher 2 Beta-2024-03-28-193015.ips
  17. 6th crash. Sorry, I just wanted to fix one tiny thing before recording, and it crashed. I guess it isn't Metal, and rebooting didn't help. Affinity Publisher 2 Beta-2024-03-28-192550.ips
  18. I rebooted so I'm hoping maybe that will help. I can try recording for a short period, but frankly I'm hoping it doesn't crash right now, I have a lot of work to do...
  19. I turned off hardware acceleration. I seem to recall checking that on my old computer, but I actually re-installed on my new one, so it probably defaulted to be back on. If it's buggy maybe they should turn it off by default.
  20. Here ya go, five crash reports. Affinity Publisher 2 Beta-2024-03-28-184349.ips Affinity Publisher 2 Beta-2024-03-28-184759.ips Affinity Publisher 2 Beta-2024-03-28-190807.ips Affinity Publisher 2 Beta-2024-03-28-191106.ips Affinity Publisher 2 Beta-2024-03-28-191320.ips
