That would probably work, but it would also (of course) overwrite any Assets created while using V2.

I believe the Assets would have been copied from V1 when first running V2, assuming that (a) the user allowed it when first running V2 and (b) V1 was still installed (as you mentioned). There are, however, additional considerations when multiple Affinity applications are installed, as the Assets are not shared among the applications for V1 but they are for V2, and that might prevent complete migration from the non-shared to the shared format.

The official way to migrate them, if the automatic migration does not work, is to export each Asset category from the Assets panel in V1 into .afassets files (one per category) and then load them individually into V2.

Thanks Walt. I will have a go at your suggestion of exporting from V1 to V2 and see what happens.

  2. Thanks Thomaso I was able to restore my old AD V1 and I found all the assets I thought I had lost.

When I upgraded to AD V2 I would have expected the Assets to install as well but they didn't. Is that a separate operation to install any previous user features when installing a new upgrade?

How do I copy these Assets into AD V2?

  3. I have 10 files open each one between 200 and 300MB. They are saved as AD files but I want to export them as jpegs so I can edit them in AP. If I try to open the AD file in AP it can't because Ad is a later version than AP!

As I try to export them as jpegs I can save the exported file then when I try and open the next AD file it hangs! I have had to Force quit 3 times to try and move on. When AD reopens it restores the files that had been present before Force quitting. Then as I start to export again the same thing happens. The only thing I haven't tried yet is to re-boot my Mac.

  4. What is the 'Inpainting brush tool'?

Reluctantly I'm attaching the jpeg file which is a child's drawing so you can try the Clone tool yourself. I'm trying to remove all the blue lines - you can see where I have had a go.

Let me know if you encounter the same sluggishness.

Also can you advise on my question about fixing the sample area in one place?

  5. If you mean, 'you think it should do' well it doesn't.

I'm also having problems with the Clone tool as I did yesterday. It is very sluggish and not very responsive.

Is there a way to select the target area but keep it stationery whilst moving the tool remove the unwanted parts? I don't want to use the Erase tool as it will be obvious that an erasure has taken place.

  6. Carrying on from my topic yesterday, I edited a pdf image using Vibrance, to enhance colour, Levels to remove blue tint background and the Clone tool to remove unwanted areas. I saved it as an AD file.

I then copy and pasted the saved image into a blank page in AD and the blue tinted background that I removed in AP is now visible in AD.

What is the best way to copy an AP file into an AD doc?

It works fine & quickly on my Mac (specs in my sig below) but I don't use it on huge files.

How large (in pixels) is the layer you are working on & is it an Image, Pixel, or some other kind of layer?

The images were 12MB pdf. I went back to do a screen shot to show the blurring but couldn't reproduce the problem. I can only assume that it was a one-off glitch.
