  1. Justin: > It seems you can have multiple macros with the same name. Yes. I have found them in the Library panel and there are two with the same name (and the same contents). Now that I see it it is a convenient place for the Macros. Double-clicking on each one seems to apply it and that is much better than manually importing it and playing. > So should I assume it is now a reported bug? Or should I file a separate bug report?
  2. I have been playing with the new Macro functionality but realized that there are a lot of questions that I do not have answers for. Here are some: 1) I created a Macro and saved it, but when I next loaded AP I could not find the Macro. What does saving it do if I can not find it when I re-open AP? 2) Since I could not find the Macro I saved the previous session I recreated it and saved it with the same name. Since AP did not give me an error I assume this means that a saved Macro does not live past the current session. Is that right? 3) To try to avoid the problem of not finding a saved Macro I decided to Export it, thinking that I could Import it the next time I needed it. But trying to Export the Macro gave me this warning: This macro has settable parameters but none have been exposed to the user or set as controller by master. Do you still want to export this macro? So how do I get the Macro parameters "exposed"? Or "set as controller by master"? 4) When I reloaded AP I tried to Import the Macro I previously saved but could not unless I loaded an image. Is that a restriction? I have more questions but need these answered first because they may also answer my other questions. Thank you.
  3. Andy, Thanks for the reply. It would be very helpful to be able to assign a keyboard shortcut to at least some of the macros as it would help speed up processing.
  4. I opened the new Macro studio and recorded a Macro. Now that I have it, is there any way to play that Macro with a keyboard shortcut? Or is it necessary to open the Macro studio and select and play the Macro manually every time I want to use it? Thanks.
  5. Could you put one of these files in someplace like dropbox so people can download them and see what might be the issue?
  6. Thank you. That is good to know, but I am curious as to why there is not a default action highlighted by the buttons so users will know what Enter will do.
  7. What do you mean? That you start the app and it does not open? Did the install go properly? Did you move the app to the Applications folder? Do you have sufficient privilege to use the app? Do you have sufficient memory? RAM? What else are you running at the same time? What kind of machine are you on? What OS are you running? A bit more information might help someone find your problem. As to other help you can file a bug report at https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/7-bugs/ but you can probably get the help you need here if you can provide additional information.
  8. The Edit -> Matte command brings up the Matte Dialog box. I use this mostly to remove any alpha channels left by other editors since one of my workflow tools (Dxo Optics Pro) will not display a file with an active alpha channel. When the Matte Dialog box opens it contains a Cancel and an Apply button but neither is selected as the default and hence I do not know what will actually happen if I press the Enter key to accept whatever the default is. As a consequence I have been mousing over to the Apply button but it occurred to me that perhaps this is a bug and should be reported. What is the default if no button is highlighted? What happens (if anything) if the Enter key is pressed. My experience implies that the dialog box gets dismissed without doing anything if Enter is pressed but I am not sure and the history shows a Matte entry.
  9. The link you provided took me to a page with 10 videos on the first page and a total of 9 additional pages as well as 10 links to further blog pages. Could you clarify exactly where in all of that you found a place to ask for AP integration? I would like to add my endorsement as I do use OnOne from time to time but there is so much to wade through that it seems like a very time consuming act. Perhaps you could narrow it down somewhat? Thank you.
  10. I suspect that it all depends upon sales volume. If AP becomes a major market presence like Photoshop, then and only then will the plugin people take notice and do what is necessary for compatibility. Until then I suspect they just don't think it is financially worthwhile.
  11. I have found that I can get all of the Topaz plugins to work properly with AP if I use Topaz' photoFXlab to launch them. That is, I use photoFXlab as the plugin and launch the plugins from that platform. That process allows me to use even the "will not run" plugins like ReMask 5 with AP. It requires that you get the photoFXlab plugin but then all the rest will work. Or, at least, do for me.
  12. Oh, so the thing I am doing wrong (again) is thinking that I was doing something wrong? That is a nice change.
  13. I have the current MAS version (1.4.2) installed on my system and just downloaded the new Beta. It will not run and gives me the same message about having to have the MAS version installed. This has happened to me before and it has generally been because either my beta was too old or I had not updated my copy of the MAS version, but I don't think that is the case this time. This is a brand new beta and, as I said, my MAS version is 1.4.2 (not, as in the post of the new beta, 1.4.1).
  14. If the image loaded into AP is either a jpg for tiff, then the Save command saves it back as that format and I, personally, would not want that to change. In fact I rely on it when I use AP as an external editor for my workflow tools. I send a tiff to AP for editing and, when I am finished, I only have to do a Cmd-S to save it back with the same name in the same format. Changing that would mean that all of my external edits from a tool like CaptureOne would not show up in the tool as the new file/format would not have been imported. Currently you have the option of Export to save in whatever format you wish. Does that not work for you?
  15. Perhaps this is a good way. I will give it a try and see how it works. Thank you for the suggestion.
  16. Thanks. I will try this, but this has the problem of requiring that I know what the new ratio would actually be, rather than just adjusting visually. I know I used the example of 5 x 3 and 4.5 x 3, but that was just intended as an illustrative example of what something might be. When I use the Perspective Tool to make straight lines vertical (normally vertical although sometimes I use it to make them horizontal) and it has the side effect of enlarging the horizontal (or vertical) width of someone or something I don't really know how much it has to be reduced using numeric values to make it look normal again. The ideal solution would be to adjust it visually until it looked right. Of course I could make a guess and, if that did not look right, redo it using a different value. Again, thanks for the suggestion.
  17. What I need to do is to "shrink" the horizontal (or sometimes vertical) part of the image equally across the image. If I have taken a photo of a person in the middle of a large area and if that area is distorted by a WA or UWA lens, then using the Perspective Tool to straighten out the vertical lines ends by dragging them to the outside of the photo ends up making anyone in the center of the photo wider than normal. If the original image was distorted enough the extra width can really make the person look fat. The only way I see to correct that is to shrink the width of the photo. The Mesh Warp Tool allows me to make local changes but I need global changes to correct this issue. The Perspective Tool allows me to drag the top and bottom back into the photo without losing any of the composition, but I assume there might be a better way to do this than by using the Perspective Tool. The Mesh Warp Tool does not help me to fix this issue. I am trying to do something like take a 5 x 3 image and make it into a 4.5 x 3 image without losing any of the content.
  18. One of my main zoom lenses tends to introduce some noticeable distortion when the zoom is set to its minimum. I normally correct this using the Perspective Tool but sometimes, especially when there are a lot of vertical lines in the photo that need to be corrected, the main subject ends up noticeably wider than it should be due to the side effect of dragging the corners out to correct the distortion. I have been correcting this by using the Perspective Tool again, but this time dragging both the top and bottom corners in to "shrink" the photo in the horizontal direction but I have been wondering if there was a better way to do this last step. I have checked both the Develop and the Photo Personas but have not found what I need. The Develop Persona contains the lens distortion adjustments but they do not do what I want to do and I have not seen anything (other than the Perspective Tool) to change the aspect ratio. Is there some tool in AP that I have missed that will "shrink" the photo in either the horizontal or vertical direction only? Thanks.
  19. Hmmm. I guess you are suggesting that I must have inadvertently hit the Tab key in between calls. I suppose that is possible and it would account for the change in how the app looked, but I don't remember doing so. Of course "inadvertently" means that I would probably not remember. Unfortunately I did not keep AP in memory or I could have checked to see if the other images were also displayed without any tools. Well, if it happens again I will be more prepared. Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I had forgotten that the Tab key would do that.
  20. I was working with one of my workflow tools using Affinity Photo as an external editor. The tool, as is usual, creates a file with its adjustments and calls Affinity Photo so I can do stuff I can not do in the tool itself. I had been doing this regularly this morning but suddenly one call to AP produced this: As you can see none of the controls are visible and I had to go through the process of turning them all on manually. What makes this even more puzzling is that this was not a "new" call to AP in the sense of starting AP from disc, but AP was already open and still had about 2 or 3 already adjusted files in memory so the call to "open" it actually just sent the new image to an already open and running app. Prior to this call all of the tools and studio selections I wanted were visible. After this call none were. I have to say I have not seen this before (and I would prefer to not have to see it again :D ) but I thought it should be reported.
  21. In a response to an earlier post Andy wrote the following: > Macro support will be included in 1.5 The present beta is listed as an RC and I assume that is for 1.5, but there is no Macro support in it as far as I can see. Am I wrong about this being a 1.5 RC? Is it the beta for 1.4.2 MAS? The beta is listed as 1.4.2 but perhaps the numbers between he MAS and the beta do not really match up. If this is not the beta for 1.5 is there any idea when it might be available? Just curious.
