  1. Thanks Bruce (and Walt). That preference is not available on the current version for Windows. That would have been a good option to have.
  2. I'm working in Designer (Win), but I imagine this applies across the Affinity products. I'm old, but not too old. My eyesight is getting worse. Other than using a magnifier, or changing the screen resolution, is there a way to change the user interface font size, especially for the ruler? Dark or Light UI settings makes a difference, but not enough since I can't control the hues or intensity of the bars. Granted, I know what measurement I set them for, but it would be nice actually to read the marks. Also, the screen is always at it's most crisp when set to native rez. My eyes are fuzzy enough. I want to think that the designers of "design" products actually thought about this. Your time is appreciated.
  3. I've found the problem. Please read. It's related to the nVidia driver option "Optimize for Compute Performance". I've tested with driver 390.66 and 390.77. When the option is "On", applied, and the computer has been shut down then booted (a restart is also sufficient), the problem occurred consistently for both Photo and Designer. When the option is "Off" and the computer has been shut down then booted, the problem fails to occur in either program. It is not a file size or image-data problem. It does not occur exclusively in the Affinity products as I was able to observe the viewport problem in Google Chrome (one time after opening Photo and Designer). Regarding the occurrence of the problem once the nVidia option is ON, opening either Photo or Designer and selecting a new document, opening a previously created document (in Designer), or opening any type of graphics file will show the problem. It does not seem to affect the tools or menus, just the graphics viewport. (Well, in the case of Chrome, it seem to affect its whole display). This problem never exhibited in any of my five other image editors, games, or tools, which I have used since I turned this nVidia option ON as of three days ago. Further, a reboot is required to effect the change in the nVidia driver, turning the problem either on or off. So, I didn't see the issue right away as I hadn't shut my machine off in several days. There is a known condition as reported in the nVidia control panel with the "Optimize for Compute Performance" which likely points to the cause of display error in either Affinity product. It reads "Select Off when graphics features like Sparse Texture are used". By way of recognition: I realize that this problem may entirely be related to configuration, function, or malfunction of my own computer. I do not have a similar rig upon which to test against. But I have been relatively thorough in the description to help you identify and or eliminate the cause of the problem. Or, it may end up on the "Issues Caused By Third Party Software" pinned topic. I only wish I could change the "topic" so others might find it easier. (Hum... I think I was able to change it.) NOTE: The default for the nVidia option is "Off", so it's unlikely many will experience this problem if the problem is indeed related to the video driver setting.
  4. Affinity Photo 1.6.1.93 Windows 10 v1709 build 16299.248 16GB RAM vram 8GB dedicated, 8 shared, nvidia 980M File: on disk .jpg 1,635KB. In A. Photo: 4002x2711px 1085MP PHOTOSHOP: reports the filesize as 31.3MB in ram (I don't know if that is relevant.) When opened in Affinity Photo, the viewport of the image appears corrupt and pixels change color as mouse is moved around the image. See attached picture. The second image is the original. This does not happen when the same file is opened in PhotoPlusX8 or in Photoshop 6.0 (yes, I am still using 6) or any other image viewing/editing program I've opened it with so far. So, I expect this is a bug in A. Photo. I'm sorry if this topic was previously discussed, but I was unable to locate it in a search of the forum. If there's already a solution, I would appreciate knowing it.
  5. Is there a way to prevent selection of guides? I see you can't (yet) lock them. But I keep grabbing them. Further, I have a line inline with guide, and I can't select the line and move it, instead the guide moves. The only solution I know of is to (re)move the guide.
  6. I too would like (but I'm still using Affinity Designer anyway) ruler origin adjustments too, as that helps a little bit with measurements in many cases. Guides are great, and so is a calculator, but they don't replace origin settings for rulers. Many of us aren't designing for the screen.
  7. Sorry if this has already been posted, but I can't read through 165 previous posts: I'm very impressed with Affinity, but I'm no professional. However, it would be nice if guidelines, and other objects dragged off page would be visible without having to select all, zoom out and find them. I drag a lot of elements around and like to park them off page. Guidelines off page should just be deleted automatically. I haven't tried this in art-board mode, so maybe it works there. And, is there a way to reset the rulers to align with an object, not just the page corner?
  8. That was easier then what I was thinking. Thank you! :D And it's right there in the menu too. :( A subsequent response: To zoom in on a rectangular area: Draw the rectangle with the tool "Zoom" + "Alt" doesn't make sense to me (yet). I don't see a key that "zooms" (which is closer to what I was imagining). Is that a mouse press? Or do you mean go and make any selection from the Zoom sub-menu and when holding Alt it will pop to the rectangle. I think I may have seen this in a tutorial video... I'll look for it, thanks! (OH YOU MEAN THE ZOOM TOOL ON THE LEFT - I GET IT.)
  9. It would be helpful if if would zoom to selection(s) which would mean a whole lot less of scrolling. Maybe I just haven't found that feature yet?

  11. Use the CRTL key instead of the CMD key shown in the tutorial. According to my quick research, your CTRL key should be in the lower left corner of the keyboard. It is likely that you are using Affinity Designer for Windows, not for Mac OS. The CTRL key should always be substituted for the CMD key when using Windows. I tested this and it works on my QWERTY keyboard. Hope you found your answer.
