  1. By the way, this change can be done in minutes. Just disconnect the "active" checkbox from the "opened/closed" state of the panel and that's it.
  2. Hi, The behavior of the tool panels in the Develop persona just doesn't make sense. Why should we have to chose between "active setting + opened panel" and "closed panel + inactive setting" exclusively ? What if I want "closed panel + active setting" or "opened panel + inactive setting" ? Why did the designer tied the "active" checkbox to the "opened / closed" state ? This is really stupid, excuse me. These options are in no way related. I have a dual monitor configuration and I installed all panels on the secondary display. I tried to keep all panels opened. Even this is not possible. If I keep the B&W panel opened, B&W mode remains active. Moreover, if I setup the panels as shown in the attached screen capture (setup1.jpg), this setup is not saved. Some panels are closed anyway when I return to the Develop persona as shown in the setup2.jpg screen capture (probably those panels that were opened and active but in which no change had been actually made). This behavior is just driving me nuts. I can't understand why this UI was designed this way. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see what. Thanks for reading.
  3. Hi, Sorry but I don't see any download link for Affinity Photo Public Beta - 1.5.0.45 (RC2). I started AP for Windows 1.5.0.43 this morning, it notified me of an update, I clicked on Download and this led me to this thread. But no download link in the first post. Is this RC2 actually public ?
  4. Sorry, no. This was a TIFF file created by Lightroom for external editing in Affinity. I restarted the operations from scratch after the crash.
  5. Hi, As long as the file (or the recovery file after the crash) was opened in the Photo Persona and the The 70's step was still present in the history, the program crashed each time I tried to undo. But now tat I restarted from scratch, I can no longer reproduce.
  6. Also, the default extension for TIFF files is still .tiff . Please return to the standard.
  7. Hi, After the .37 update, I can now use Ctrl-S to save my changes to the (TIFF) file sent over by Lightroom. That's good. It's not clear to me whether the file is flattened when using the Save with layers... button. When using the Export... command however, the browser still uses the last folder that has been used for an export which may have nothing to do with the folder where the original file is stored (this folder should be the default for a round-trip operation). Is there any option that I have missed ?
  8. Hi, I used the The 70's entry in the Library and then I wanted to undo this. I used Ctrl-Z repeatedly and when I reached the "The 70's" entry in the history, the application crashed. See attached screen capture.
  9. Hi, For those who are considering to use Affinity as their usual demosaicing software, there's obviously a need to change the current approach. During my tests, I made only a few changes to the loaded RAW images and I got files as big as 400 MB from a 20 MB RAW file. This is just unmanageable. In order to allow a successful roundtrip between the Photo and the Develop Personas, sidecar files (or a settings database as in LR) are unavoidable. People shoot RAW images to benefit from the multiple advantages of the RAW approach : non destructive development, multiple versions from a single RAW, and even much more... Having the RAW engine and the retouching module in the same software is a plus only if the development settings can be managed correctly (like between Photoshop and Adobe Camera RAW/Lightroom). Otherwise, Affinity is doomed to be used as an external retouching editor for a real RAW engine (DxO Optics Pro, Lightroom, Capture One,...) - provided the current quirks when trying to setup a workable round-trip between these programs and Affinity are fixed (see https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/28020-the-lightroom-ap-roundtrip-doesnt-work-as-expected/?hl=roundtrip) -.
  10. Hi, I have successfully setup Affinity as an external editor in Lightroom. I could then use the Edit in... Affinity command to send a TIF file (note the extension) to Affinity. After making some changes, I wanted to use, as in other external applications, the Ctrl-S shortcut to send that modified TIF file back to Lightroom. No, no. Affinity wanted to save it as a .afphoto file. Not what I wanted. So I had to export. But when exporting as a TIFF file, Affinity tries to force the .TIFF extension which you have to change manually if you want that Lightroom recognizes the returned file. Also, the default folder proposed to store the exported file is not the folder where the original file is stored, thus causing some confusion if you are not cautious enough. This should at least be an option.
  11. Hi, Quoting the documentation : With the Flood Select Tool selected, on the context toolbar, ensure the Contiguous option is off. I don't see any such option. At the right of the Tolerance setting, I can see a dark gray square which displays what appears to be an empty drop-down list when hovering it. Nothing called "Contiguous selection" on that context toolbar. Thanks.
  12. OK. I have uninstalled and reinstalled again and this time, the metadata are displayed for TIFF and JPEG files. Still no way for RAW files.
  13. Hi, Many image post-processing software now use a dropper tool to adjust the white balance. This is very handy. AP is missing such a tool or did I miss it ?
  14. I have tried with Canon CR2 files and Fuji RAF files from a X100 and a X-Pro1. I also tried with JPEG files. Same problem anyway, I could not display any EXIF data for any image.
  15. Hi, I made a few changes to a RAW image and wanted to save my develop settings. But it seems that the only thing that I can do in the Develop Persona after making my changes is to click on Develop. Then I have looked for a way to create a sidecar file containing my settings, like in ACR, LR or DOP. No way. I tried to save the image in the afphoto format, thinking it was the extension for AP sidecar files : I got a huge 400 MB file. Gasp ! Please tell me what I'm missing. I can't believe that the RAW development settings are not stored anywhere.
  16. Je stun, ICC Display Transform was selected. As mentioned above, the problem disappeared after re-installation. Thanks.
  17. Unfortunately, whatever the RAW file loaded, all EXIF fields in that panel are empty (n/a).
  18. Chris, Everything was turning so strange that I have re-installed. Which seems to have fixed the problem. However, I didn't do anything fancy. I launched AP and just loaded RAW files. This one might be hard to catch.
  19. Hi, The metadata keyword doesn't exist in the help file and I don't see in the menus how I could display the current image metadata. Thanks.
  20. Another related problem with a Canon Raw file. Shifted histogram, purple sky,... Could this be due to my wide gamut display ?
  21. Here is a screen capture when using the default settings, just after opening the file. See the massive shift of the histogram.
  22. Chris, Changing the profile doesn't help. I'm unable to see what you show in the attached screenshot. A RAW image has no color space. When a RAW file is loaded in Lightroom, the internal profile used to represent it is Melissa RGB, something very close to Prophoto. I don't think that a profile issue can explain what I'm seeing. Here is a capture of my screen when using Adobe RGB...
  23. HI, Let's assume I'm in the Develop Persona and I want to change Exposure, Black Point and Brightness. I click on the Exposure panel title bar. The checkbox is checked and the panel opens. OK. I make some changes and then I want to hide the sliders. So I click again on the Exposure panel title bar. But this automatically clears the checkbox and my settings are disabled. What if I want to collapse the panel but keep my settings active ? Also, it would be nice to have a "solo mode" for these panels, like in Lightroom : when opening a given panel, all other panels are closed. Of course if closing panels also disables the corresponding settings, things will be complicated.
