  1. Since there were some here experiencing problems running Mac Ventura and Affinity I wanted to give an update on my findings. Last week I did a "fresh install" of Ventura and installed a fresh copy of Affinity Photo 2 and Affinity Design 2 along with fresh copy of Wnsoft PTE and Capture One 23 and so far all is working great. Could be when just doing an upgrade it causes problems. Over the years I have found "fresh installs" always had better results than "upgrading" the operating system. One frustrating problem though was installing the Wacom Intros pro driver because there were 2 security links that had to be addressed instead of one. After several lockups I found turning off all the extra features (which I don't use) on the Wacom Pad it seems to be ok now. I did later find Wacom says with Ventura some of the features may not work. Hope this may be of of help. Note: I am using a MacMini M1 silicone and the older 27" Mac Thunderbolt monitor. Incredible great combination. Bill
  2. Problem has been solved. My keyboard is set for 2 languages and I changed it to German and then back to the default (English) and then did a reboot of the Mac and all seems to be fine now. Bill
  3. Just upgraded Infinity Photo to 1.7.0. (thank you Infinity) and was adding marching ants around an object and noticed the former short cut key (Option) no longer changes between add and subtract. When toggling the "add" and "subtract" at the top tool bar it works fine but not by a keyboard command as before. Thanks for your help! Bill
  4. We have been using Affinity Photo in our business for over 2 years and has been great and have been so delighted and recommended it to our photographer friends!! ...but we have seen a performance hit with version 1.6 when opening raw files. The raw image opens much slower and in square sections at a time and every time we make an adjustment in raw it too takes effect with several squares at a time. We are using a 2015 MacPro and it always runs fast with everything except when opening a raw file in Affinity Photo. (note we use Capture One Express for our Sony files and that works fine.) It wasn't a problem with version 1.5. Your help would be greatly appreciated. (using open GL) Thanks Bill
  5. First a big thank you to Affinity Photo for the fabulous upgrade to version 1.5!! I do have a question. I updated the version to my laptop and Mac desktop but since I downloaded the Macro package to the Laptop I can't download it to the Mac desktop because when I enter on the welcome screen my email address, name, etc it responded with these words: This account already registered. Is there another way to download this package to our other Mac? Thanks Bill
  6. First to mention we have removed CS6 from both of our Macs in our business and relying completely on Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer. We used Photoshop for quite a few years going back to CS2.Thank you Affinity for your great software!! We have over the years used the Olympus Micro Four Thirds cameras and have the new coming EM-1 MARK II on order and in the meantime found a review here: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/olympus-e-m1-ii/olympus-e-m1-iiA.HTM#shooting2 This review has a free Hi-res raw from the new EM-i Mark II sample to download. The raw is a Hi-resolution .orf file and is 63.5mb. I was so surprised to see the native raw file opened fine in Affinity Photo and was able to process it into a jpeg. It took only a very small amount of additional processing time for this large raw file. The final .jpeg file size has an astounding resolution size of 10400 x 7792. I assume the new EM-1 MARK II is not yet fully supported by Affinity but was pleasantly surprised it could even be opened. Bill
  7. Thank you for your response. Actually it wasn't the same image/file with the 3 different lockups. The image was among many that I had scanned with our Epson V800 Photo scanner. Each time after the lock up and rebooting the Mac I could go back and then the inpaint brush worked fine on the same image I was working on when it locked up. The Denoise filter issue hopefully will be corrected with an update. Not sure if this helps but I found if I opened a new image/file and first applied the Denoise it worked ok but all other times if the image already had filters or layers applied to it then the Denoise filter would after several seconds reapply the original noise which we tried to remove. Thanks so much for there response.
  8. We have been very pleased with Affinity Photo and have replaced CS6 for our small photo business. We are currently into our second large project scanning/restoring very old photos for a client. We have had 2 issues we are hoping to get some help with. We have a MacPro 2015 3.7 Quad (16GB 1866 MHz DDR3 EC memory) with all the latest updates. Graphics is AMD FirePro D300 2048 MB. The issue we seem to have is that when using the inpaint brush the Mac now and then completely locks up and the only recourse is the turn the Mac off and back on manually. (Continuous spinning beach ball) This has happened 3 times so far and happened twice today while working on the project for a client. The other issue is that when I use the Denoise filter it works fine but after selecting "apply" in 3 or 4 seconds the noise comes back into the photo. Even if I first merge the layer I still have the same issue. Your help would be deeply appreciated. Thank you Bill
  9. Hi, This is Bill from Pennsylvania and as of this week new to Affinity products. My wife and I have a small photo business and do a fair amount of photo restorations and slide scanning, restoring and digitalizing. We also build digital slide shows for clients with Fotomagico Pro, another excellent product. We have been using Photoshop (full version) for around 10 years and had most versions and have been using CS6 since its introduction. We just didn't want to upgrade to Photoshop Cloud ($$$) and to be honest was greatly disappointed when Adobe stopped supporting CS6 and forced it's customers into a monthly pay system. I have been testing Affinity Photo now for several days and really like it's performance and output. The cropping method seemed strange at first but thanks to the excellent tutorials I am trying to adapt to this different way of cropping, although CS6 method seems much simpler. In CS6 one could enter resolution either at pixels or inches but also include the DPI for printing. I experienced 2 crashes up to this point with one when opening Affinity the very first time and second time was when I was using the inpaint feature. Other than that it runs very fast and great on both our 2015 MacPro in the office and fine on our 2015 MacBook Pro (no crashes on this) My plan is to run both Affinity and Photoshop side by side for a while, while weaning off of CS6. A big hello from Pa! update: (12 days later) Since the initial install which produced 2 crashes everything has been running fast and smooth on both the 2015 MacBook Pro and 2015 MacPro. So pleased with Affinity Photo we now also purchased Affinity Designer. Quickly getting adjusted to the differences we have encountered between Affinity Photo and CS6.
