  1. Thanks Chris. The reset using the Ctrl key at startup has fixed the default paragraph panel size. The exact steps to reproduce the tiny application window for me: Edit menu -> Preferences Miscellaneous section and click Reset User Defaults The next time I open the application it still starts as a small dialog (like my second screen shot) Steps tested on two Windows 10 machines.
  2. Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm still unsure about this. I've just been reading the EMF output files using a hex editor and can't understand why the 16 bit "bounds" element in the EMF header for a 100 x 100 px square generated in Affinity Designer translate to an uneven aspect ratio in the exported EMF. I would have expected it to be 1:1 and therefore the x and y DPI to match. Seems a really bizarre way of doing it. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc230514.aspx Would one of the devs be able to look at the EMF export routine or someone explain what I'm doing wrong? Thanks
  3. Paragraph panel is not remembering its size once undocked. It also appears to lose its ability to resize vertically until closed and reopened from the View -> Studio menu. See below capture: I've tried resetting all the preferences under the Miscellaneous tab back to their defaults, which is when I also noticed that doing this shrinks the main application window to its minimum size on first launch with only the title bar visible and in the top left corner of the screen (which gets hidden by the default start page)..
  4. Thanks Mark. Finaly got a chance to try the latest .36 build and they are miles better! Tried all of the other tools including the pixel persona ones and those are good as well. The text tool still has the same issue though. Screenshot from .36 build @ 100% Windows scaling:
  5. Thanks Stephen. Yes, this works for most cases but not if its in the following view: It instead starts to edit the numeric boxes with spaces.
  6. Found the custom text scaling option in Windows. Here are some more test cases: 100% 200% 300% 200 percent looks quite sharp, then 300 goes fuzzy again (guess thats using the 200% cursor and upscaling).
  7. I've just tried setting the zoom level to 125, 150 and 175% (can't go to 200% on my machine - lucky you with your high dpi screen! :P) and while it did make it easier to see, it still wasn't as good as the colour picker cursor. I also tried a restart of my machine after applying the new settings. The outline looks like it as some transparency as you mention before.
  8. Yes, the one where it worked correctly is definitely set to a scaling >100% (think it's 150, but can't be certain off the top of my head). My laptop and desktop work PC are both set to the standard 100%. I'll try altering the scaling in a bit to see what effect it has.
  9. When selecting a font or using a slider to change the appearance of an object, the object transform handles and bounding box disappear so that you can see the changes more easily (especially useful for changes to the stroke). However, changing the fill using a numeric field or dragging the colour point in the spectrum view of the colour chooser doesn't hide it. Would it be possible to define an operation to allow toggling on/off and/or hide it when its appearance is changed from any palette and only reappear once the mouse has moved back onto the canvas/artboard. If the mouse was already over the canvas, it should wait until the mouse is next moved until showing the bounding box and handles. At the moment my work around is to select the View Tool [H] before making adjustments. Edit: Already a common feature request under general functionality https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/10410-common-feature-requests-index/
  10. Is there a way to collapse the side palettes to icons and have them reappear when selected/hovered over? Similar to Adobe: I can expand the width, but the minimum I can shrink them to is ~265 px .
  11. Thanks Chris. Good idea. I've never tried safe mode with an account that requires a domain login (no local account access at work), but hopefully safe mode with networking should do the trick. If that works I'll try disabling startup services and programs logically to narrow down the conflicting one.
  12. Third test: Just tried this on my home laptop now and it's back to the difficult to see cursor. I've played with my colour settings on the graphics card profile and now found out that this doesn't affect cursors due to how they are rendered separately from the main screen image. One thing I did notice though, is that the colour picker tool's cursor works well with all backgrounds. Could the shape and text tool's cursor be modified to something that more closely resembles that?
  13. Arghhh, It would appear that it is my work PC (again) causing similar effects to this: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/26570-15025-rc-colour-numeric-fields-buggy-after-enter-key/ Sorry, please ignore this bug (unless you have any ideas on what could be causing it on my machine/ logs that may be of use?). I just got another PC running Windows 10 Pro set up at work today, so I'll also try it on that when I'm back. All my other test PCs where it works have been Win 10 Home Premium. Thanks
  14. Thanks for the slider suggestion, Chris. Mark, this was on Windows 10 Pro x64. However, having tried this on another PC now (Windows 10 Home x64), the crosshair stands out much more than before. I'll check this again on Monday when I'm back at work to see how my main display is configured (ATI control panel wise) or if the application settings are different in any way.
  15. If I select the font drop down list and start typing the font name, it doesn't allow me to enter text/jump to the font. It seems to only allow one character and not a string. What would be really nice is if the text field allowed autocomplete/filtering based on what your you type. This would make it much faster selecting known fonts. The paragraph palette is also not expanding the height for me .
  16. I am working on a design where the BG is very dark (#222222) and trying to draw shapes with the crosshair cursor is very difficult as I can hardly see it! Could the cursor change its colour based on the background pixels to increase the contrast? See attached screen shot, you can JUST see the cursor.
  17. Looks like it is the configuration on my work machine. Laptop at home works fine. Very odd.
  18. So far it has been consistently failing even after closing the software. I will try it on my laptop at home (Windows 10 x64 Home Premium) to see if it happens there as well. Video of the effect https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9zQu9iLZE5OUXdzTi1QTkRubFE/view
  19. This has returned for me. It also happens on the gradient fill opacity numeric fields. Steps that reproduced for me: New document: web pixels New rectangle shape Fill option in top toolbar: set to gradient tab Left colour node active. Opacity numeric: select and type 50. Press enter. Right colour node active. Opacity numeric: select and type 50. Press enter. Back to opacity left numeric select type new number. Press enter. - Enter no longer works and arrow keys etc.
  20. What are the chances of having a dedicated feature request site (rather than a forum) that allows up voting, marking as duplicate (and referencing the duplicate), feature/idea status (declined, duplicate, in development, planned, new etc.) and a way of filtering by status. Very similar to LabVIEW Idea Exchange: https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW-Idea-Exchange/idb-p/labviewideas Just a thought.
  21. Thanks Sean. That makes perfect sense now. Thanks for explaining.
  22. Hi Jon I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Version 1607 Build 14393.321. Edit: How bizarre - I've just tried it again and it's working as expected now. I'll let you know if it comes back.
