Hi MikeTO sorry for the delay in answering, but I have been in hospital. I have actually fixed the problem of the spacebar by switching off FULL KEYBOARD ACCESS in the Settings/Accessibility section and now all is fine. Regards Harrythespida

I have nothing linked to shortcut and as an overkill I have defaulted all. Still the spacebar does not work in Photo or Designer (it works normally in all other programmes) The only way I can get a space in Photo and Designer is by using SHIFT and SPACE.....HELP

Well it is certainly different. Cannot apply HARDNESS in newly made brushes, the option is greyed out. Although "always show crosshairs" in preferences has been deselected, crosshairs show on all except the PAINT tool (rather than just the selected brush shape) The UNLINK is greyed out so I can't unlink DROPBOX in "linked services". On the up side, I do like the new "save favourite page sizes" in NEW very very useful. Can anyone throw any light on the probs I have? Harrythespida

Can anyone throw any light as to why "sometimes" when I choose NEW and then choose a paper size, the screen reverts to the desktop and I have to double click the Affinity Photo icon in my toolbar to reopen the programme. It reopens with the page size I requested and then the programme runs as normal. MacbookPro M2 Cip 2022 running Monterey 12.5.1 Thanks Harry the Spida

Using Mac o/s Big Sur is enough of a pain with the embedded checking and security, now with the latest update of Affinity photo, after a COPY MERGED command the app reverts to desktop when File.New is chosen. Anyone any solutions please. I have already reverted the programme back to all defaults. Thanks Harrythespida

Hi Dan, I think I am getting ahead of myself here. I find it easier and more accurate using an arrow for doing "cutouts" as used in Photoshop rather than a crosshair cursor. Guess I will just have to practice and get used to it.Thanks anyway.

Sorry, forgot to say I'm running a macbook pro with Catalina.....

All my Marquee Tools will only show as CROSSHAIR CURSORS. This is a real pain for the FREEHAND LASSO tool (the only one I really need to change). In PREFERENCE/USER INTERFACE/allways show brush crosshairs is UNCHECKED. I have even checked this option and then unchecked it but to no avail, still show as crosshairs. I have even deleted and re-installed the programme. again to now avail. Can anyone help please. Regards HarryTheSpida

Dan well thats strange 'cos that screenshot shows the transparent chequer board but my screen shows just plain white. It gets more weird all the tme. Just gone back and can confirm when transparecy is ticked in FILE/NEW, the chequer board is definately not shown, a white screen is presented.

Hi Dan I think the problem lies with something on my macbook as I deleted Affiniy Photo and have just downloaded the trial version from Serif store (rather than from the mac app stre) and the problem is still there. I am begining to think a wipe of my hard drive is going to be the only way to cure this problem (when I can pluck up the courage) I have attatched 2 screen shots just in case.

Since downgrading from poxy CATALINA back to MOJAVE, I am unable to open a new blank file with a transparent background (even though TRANSPARENT is ticked in File-New) The BACKGROUND brush does not produce the chequer board transparency effect when editing a picture. This is the same in both Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo. Can anyone throw any light on this please attached file are my system details.

Is there any specific reason for Affinity Photo NOT to show all my fonts? The font I wish to use (Lucinda Handwriting) is installed and available in all other software programs but not Affinity. This applies to fonts under the tab ALL RECENT USED & FAVOURITES within Affinity Photo. HarryTheSpida
