  1. Adddition to 3) While cropping in the "unlimited" mode it would be great, if you could temporarily disable this mode and switch to "original proportions" by simply holding the CMD (STRG) key ... and vice versa ...
  2. I'd like to add some suggestions from a practical point of view: 1) The maximum size (1024) of the liquify brush is far to small when you work with full size resolution (e.g.) 6000px side length or more 2) With every new picture I open the setting for tools is reset to standard setting (which is often not what I want). So each time I start working on a new picture I again and again have to switch from repair to restauration brush. Very annoying. 3) Same with the clipping Mode. It keeps changing back to "unlimited" ... and each time I've got to reset it to "Original proportions" (since I work with a german version I'm not sure about the proper english naming.). 4) Export settings each time need to be set to my saved preferenc (Preset) since it always comes up with the standard setting) e.g.JPEG (highes quality) Cheers, Timo
  3. Not really ... but it was a little bit vague :-) ... Maybe I did not fully understand his question than ;-)
  4. Ken, this is maybe related to a common misunderstanding of the meaning of dpi (or ppi). Changing the dpi does not change the dimensions of the picture! It only tells the output media what size each pixel or point should be on this media. Example: You have a picture size 1200pxx800px (stating 300dpi) and you change the dpi to 72 the pixel still will be 1200x800px. The only difference will be if you print it it will 4 be times as large as the version with 300dpi. With regards to AP: did you resize your document with the checkbox "recalculate" ticked on? In that case AP seems to preserve the "real" output size and reduced pixels accordingly. If you uncheck the "recalculation" box pixelsize remains the original.
  5. Hi AP developers, aside the feature (and related bug) discussions I'd like to bring your attention to some handling issues. As a photographer I'm dealing with many pictures every day so handling issues withing AP really matter for me. And I'm facing some serious hickups here that make working with AP really hard an exhausting. 1) No file-path is ever saved properly. So after saving keyboard shortcuts (always atz the same location) I completely have to enter my standard path for current export ... changing it again for my current import, changing it again for my standard macro path ... Suggestion: either AP should remember those pathes individually in addition to entering those pathes in my program settings. 2) AP seems to have problems of gaining focus (back again) when interaction with other applications (regardles if Lightroom calls AP with a picture file or a plugin has had temporarily control) - sometimes it works - sometimes it doesn't 3) Even though AP remembers what files have been open the last session it does not restore undocked windows to it's original size where they were left when closing the application - this costs a hell lot of time to each time set up the windows again correctly 4) Same refers to panels like the library panel. Each time I open AP again, the library panel shows unwanted groups but not the personal groups I am working with. Love to see UI settings beeing saved properly. 5) Unpredictable behaviour (not necessarily reproducable) does not improve trust into the code. E.g. gradationcurves and toncurves show histograms of the pixel level ...well at least after starting the program - but for not known reasons from a certain point of working with AP these histograms are not displayed at all any more (empty window). The funktionality of the filters is still given. 6) Each time I resize an image (and that's plenty of times a day) the interpolation method is set back to "bilinear" ... and each time I have to set it back to whatever else I prefere. This drives my crazy. If the UI would at least remember what my last setting was. It would as well be nice to have some resize presets for documents, since I'm quite often dealing with the same output sizes. (And adding a wishful feature here: implementing a setting saying "resize longest side to 1200px". This would be extremely helpful for resizing picture to the same maximum side lenght (regardless landscape or portrait) - extremely helpful for automation purpose (Macro!)) Thanks for having a look into these topics, Cheers, Timo Btw: this experience is based on the final version (not the beta).
  6. Is there any kind of official statement from Serif towards the macro topic? And is the Mac version also incapable of recording colour assignments?
  7. @Alfred: For reliable sizes (in AP) as well as for automated processes (macros) variables like pagewidth or pageheight are crucial. I'm desperately looking a possibility to generate a rectangle half the size of pagewidth and center it on the page. This needs to be done numerically. If only the object size itself can be entered numerically this is of no help ...
  8. But what's the sense behind a Macro Recorder that is lacking the most basic features (e.g. assigning a colour to an object or grouping layers)?
  9. Am I the only one who can't record a colour change with the macro recorder?
  10. It seems, as if only the variables x,y (rectangle origin) and w (width) as well as h (height) work in the transformation fields ... all page related variable (page width, page height, margins, designarea etc.) are not accepted. All mathematical function are not accepted when you use variables with them ... e.g. "sin(w)" does not work while "sin(1,4)" does work ... Has anybody worked with this on the MAC version of AP? Same behaviour? Is there a list of working variables around somewhere, since the helpfile for AP is useless and wrong. Cheers, Timo
  11. When recording a macro I get the message that the recorder can't record change of transparancy or filling. Is that a bug or a feature ;-)? The error message of the macro recorder in the german AP version comes with english text referring to a german command (e.g. Cannot record "Füllung festlegen") ... nothing critical, just fyi.
  12. First of all thank you for decreasing the automatic docking area for undocked windows (even though I think it's to wide). So working with undocked windows can be tested and experienced now ;-) To be able to work effectively with undocked multiple documents it would be helpful to have an option for the windows to automatically adapt to the current document size. It's a huge hassle to resize the windows manually all the time and than center the document again to have the right position for the document again. This option would be of great help lfor the way I work with documents. Cheers, Timo
  13. Are there any plans to enable dragging and dropping of single or multiple layers from one document to another within AP? Cheers, Timo
  14. For macros I was trying to do arithmetic calculations for rectangles in the transformation form fields - but aside basic numeric arithmetic calculations (that work out fine) none of the constants and functions mentioned in the help file works in the german version. I'd be surprised if other commands were used than those in the english version or those mentioned in the help file. Any idea? In case the problem is not in the code but between my ears maybe there are examples somewhere on how to use the constants and functions properly (some kind of tutorial or training)? Any help appreciated, Timo
  15. You seem to have done some proper work on the engine. In the latest beta this problem significantly has improved...
  16. It's not a problem ... I'm just trying to be supportive to find minor flaws ... ;-)
  17. There's a missing translation in the lates german AP Version 1.5.0.42 when you close a RAW file with "Cancel" ...
  18. When opening a CR2 file and than cancelling the development of this RAW File in the develop persona AP automatically goes back to the photo persona. This is as expected. But here AP suddenly is showing the same but totally darkened CR2 file I just before cancelled in development persona. This seems very weired behaviour ... Any ideas? Cheers, Timo
  19. If you get to see theses crash reports every 20 Minutes when you're trying to get to know the prodoct ... it starts asking those questions as "will this ever be a serious competitor" ... is this "really" a beta(!)-release ... it just happens far too often... an no, it's not even that you can repeat the reason for it (that's why it's not mentioned under "bug" ... it just happens ... in between ... while rsizing, while adjusting a filter, selecting a brush ... while saving (love that one) .... sometime wacom pressure workes ... for no known reason many times it doesn't ... (no, I would have pointed it out as a bug, if it would have happend reproductively) .. but it just happens ... for no reason .. By the looks of it, i'm still stuck with PS6 ... bummer ...
  20. Thanks ... and, maybe you guys should have a coffe together somewhere inbetween Portugal and the UK ;-)
  21. Sorry, maybe I did not explain my issue properly. I love to work with detached windows (as you showed it). But this is hardly realistic because each time you move a a document window to the top 1/3 of the main window it automatically gets attached again :-(. It would to far better not to automatically attach windows again, but let the user manually drag a window to a fine area at the top to attach it deliberately. And since window sizes in detached documents to not automatically resize and adapt to document sizes, one hast to manually resize the window all the time ... and this in most of the time results in undeliberately attaching the stupid window again ;-) Attached is a copy of the current german help file: Thanks for your answers! Timo
  22. I do have a serious performance problem with AP Windows Beta. Already simply drawing a line with a brush results in a significant painting-lag. I demonstzrate this effect on a larger empty document (6000x4000px) and a simple brush. The video is realtime. https://youtu.be/Ej_cfStXxrg: I don't experience similar problems with other software (e.g. PS CS6). Nevertheless I'm aware that not everybody seems to have this issue - but it prevents me from any kind of effective work. I'm working on Win 7/64bit, with an i7-3770 3,5GHz, 32GB Memory and a Gforce GTX 570. While painting the CPU usage of the 8 cores never goes beyond 60%. Cheere, Timo
