  1. I feel and share your frustration. The fact of the matter is Affinity trio was not very well thought through as far as RTL or Indic languages were concerned and the applications clearly demonstrate the fact they were not designed with this in mind. I have no idea how Serif is going to address this major issue but I doubt it will be in version 2.X or 3.X or at all. So writing here over an over like a broken record is not going to make any difference as it not on the cards and Serif has made NO indication on the possibility of it ever being on the cards. So I suggest please guys end your plea and frustration with the team as it will not make any difference to this matter. For my project I have used so many hacks including writing a JAVA script to fool the app to produce the PDF as true RTL file! Frankly it is getting silly and childish going on about something that does not exist.
  2. Thank you Patrick! If only you knew the amount of hoops I had to run through to get my project to come to fruition...
  3. I have followed and installed the additional dictionaries and pointed its full path in the options. How am I supposed to actually use it? or call it? I am confused.
  4. Why pay for it when you have a great FREE one? I use this extensively with APUB: LeoMoon ParsiNegar - Downloads • LeoMoon Studios
  5. Don't think Affinity suite was written in Python, RTL and Indic languages will not be supported. So it is best not to post about this topic as you would be whistling into the wind... Stick to your software.
  6. It is NOT going to happen. I suggest you use InDesign or even Microsoft Publisher which handles RTL beautifully.
  7. Not sure what you have done in your sample. See my last post for detail explanation of the issue and my workaround.
  8. I formulated a dirty workaround this by manually specifying the pages numbers like 1,3,2,5,4,7,6,9,8 and so on and it works. However this is not ideal since I have 541 pages in this book. @AdamW please please add a feature so APUB can publish PDFs that start from Right to Publish facing pages literally from right to left or reverse the numbers in such a way that it will be 1 3,2 5,4 ... So the printers can print the RTL book as it was intended. The current mode works correctly for a LTR publication as intended. Cheers
  9. Try this very basic one.... test.afpub
  10. Thank you Walt but this is not something I want to do with 26 books @ 600 pages each. I don't even understand why this happens? Surely if you have told APUB to start from right, then the application should take this into consideration when it comes to publishing it into PDF in the correct order. Your solution is good for a small publication and one off but not what I am working on. I do hope Adam and the team will look into this as I really don't want to go to InDesign, esp I have almost finished one book in APUB.
  11. I am in the middle of putting together a 600 page book that is setup RTL. In the document settings I do have it as "Start on the Right". When I produce the PDF, I choose the option "All Pages" in the Area section, however when it comes to printing, it is all messed up and it seems to have printed the document as LTR with RTL contents, so the whole book is incorrect and pages are all over the place. Any ideas? This is a major issue for me as I need to produce 26 more and need to get to the bottom of this before I send it off to the printers. Cheers.
  12. Thank you for that! "Aren't the page numbers identical in APub's pages panel and in the exported PDF?" I my case no as I have numbered the pages manually and set the page numbers differently. So things like Preface and TOC and so on don't have a page number and only section 1 of the book starts having numbers which in reality is page 15 for example.
  13. Sorry I am going to have one more question on this as I am confused on the page numbers if they are "Facing Pages" so do I go with what APUB is showing or the final number in the PDF?
  14. Thank you for that! I am hoping this will also happen in AP as you have stated: "In apps like InDesign there are advanced features that let easily adjust the spine width afterwards and let you design the cover graphics without needing to make tedious recalculations / adjustments / shifts, so I understand well your desire to be able to make accurate calculations before knowing the printer, but that does not seem to be always possible. "
  15. I am putting a 600 page book together in Publisher but making the cover in Designer. The book is facing pages - What is the best spine calculator for this? I know it has to do with the thickness of the paper as well. Any thoughts would appreciated.
  16. That's a bit unfair. The software has to be released at some point and cannot remain in BETA forever. There will always be issues and regressions so cut the team some slack and FYI AP is much faster and perhaps you should give more detail on the issue as to why it is slow on YOUR machine and not the rest. It is very easy to become a critic but it is not helpful if you are throwing something in there just because your are frustrated!
