  1. Ah, yes, found it - thank you so much. Cunningly hidden, AD is so full of features even the best UI designer eventually runs out of space :).
  2. When I was initially evaluating AD I created one file and it contains a colour I'm at a loss to explain, a solid colour with a texture. I can change the colour, but how did I create the texture? I can't work out how I created it. Given that I rather like it, I would appreciate any help figuring this out. Given the level of my design skills (think as close as possible to negative values) it's probably very basic, but I've been looking at this for a while now and I'm still no further. I've attached it - hope this works. Thanks in advance!
  3. Shame you corrected it - I rather liked "dartboard" :D
  4. I couldn't post this before (had to wait for the  newbie posting limit to expire), but I actually got a friendly email back from Bjango's Marc Edwards himself who drew up some instructions after I pointed him at AD, and he put those online at https://bjango.com/help/skalapreview/affinitydesigner/. Having said that, I note that @mystrawberrymonkey's video also deals with some apparently erroneous format settings which are rather important to make things work properly. By the way, if you're interested in the reverse you should check out AirParrot 2 and Reflector 2 from Air Squirrels. Airparrot 2 is basically Airplay on steroids (and there's also a Windows version), and Reflector 2 turns your Mac into an Airplay receiver like an Apple TV so you can project iOS output on it - but multiple devices simultaneously, and with recording capability. I'm not affiliated with them, but I use this quite a bit. If you need to present anything, all you need is a TV with an Apple TV hooked up and you can do everything else wirelessly - even from a (shudder) Windows PC :)
  5. Wow, thanks for that. Would you care to put a little tutorial together? Still getting used to AD, but I've had a look at that tool and it's VERY helpful :).
  6. Apologies for being pedantic, but is there a way in which you can do a search & replace on path text in a design? The question came to me after watching the Text on a Path: Worked Example tutorial, which was wonderful (although slightly confusing, but that's more my lack of experience with the feature), but which also contained a consistent zpelink error ("terrian" instead of "terrain") throughout the entire design. Most of the time you'll work with already developed content, but it did highlight an absence of a search & replace tool in the "Text" menu. It also made me wonder if the spell checker doesn't work on path text - not that I would need it, but it's one of those classic "duh" things that will slip through when someone is focusing on getting a brilliant design *just* right..
  7. I just wandered into Affinity "Land" (installed both AD & AP) and from the sheer quality of the software I'd give an upvote to any new idea these guys come up with (also because managing even private pictures is something that urgently needs new ideas). Oh, and if you want someone to test it, give it to me - I've been breaking things for decades :D
  8. Another vote here, but I suspect there will be patenting/licensing issues. However, there's nothing wrong with striking up a discussion and see where it leads - I get the impression that the company is more web focused so they may be interested in either negotiating a feature price or becoming AD's first plugin (as one possible approach to isolate licensing costs).
  9. Hi, I am still ploughing through all the AD tutorial videos and admittedly not even close to being called an amateur (or gifted ;), cough), but I did note one thing I'd love to see in AD: vanishing point support, even if it's just a guides framework. Drawing with depth perspective (certainly when it's a bit more technical) is always a mild pain because there are few packages that properly support vanishing point management. It would, of course be amazing if you could automate basic shapes to conform to perspective behaviour but I reckon you deserve a rest after cramming AD so full with features I'll probably retire before I've used them all :). Instead, having at least guides for a vanishing point would be awesome. A perspective grid would not only need a vanishing point, but also some idea for snapping and that would probably take a lot longer to achieve whereas guides to replace the usual "let's fling some guidelines on a top layer" approach would be rather cool. Anyway, back to the tutorials - one of the things I've already managed is to convert a .PNG logo into a vector version, which served to make me both more comfortable with combining shapes and simplifying curves into the lowest possible number of nodes. That it resulted in an infinitely easier to scale logo was a mere bonus :P
