  1. Read your OP a few days ago (havnt reviewed since) so this may have already been said. Have you considered buying a refurbished 9.7" ipad pro or a used one? Those should be reasonably priced. I have a 9.7" IPP and it is working well with the AP App.
  2. Did you try "disable Embed Metadata"? I had an earlier question on the same thing, that was suggested and it worked for me.
  3. This is one of the methods I tried i.e. Dragging the dial around the circle, with the pencil. Either right or left, once I reach the bottom, the numbers begin to go opposite direction from where they were at the top of the dial. I have better luck by bringing up the small screen showing the numbers but then I have to tap three times to zero out nunber that is there by default, after zeroing out, I can select the number I want. This just doesnt seem right. To me it seems I should be able to drag the dial to the right/left to raise/lower the number (not working). Again this is to set opacity and size of brush.
  4. I need some help on some tasks while using the Brush Tool in the App for the iPad. Dont see a dedicated tutorial for Brush tool so maybe its imbedded in a tutorial. If so, please point me in this direction. The problem I am having is that I need to bring down the opacity to about 79% and brush size to around 10. (I am recoloring green peteyes). I am using the Apple Pencil and my IPP 9.7". Anyway I see the tabs at the bottom, (after selecting Brush Tool and correct color) one option seems to move the blue circle(dial) to change the numbers and that goes haywire. Another way that works is tapping on the little screen that shows and manually tap the correct numbers. First That requires 3 taps to zero out the wrong numbers that are automatically already there. So there must be an easier way to set brush size and opacity than all that? Sorry if this isnt clear.
  5. So if you have Readdle Documents App (RD), Affinity Photo shows in the Share extension In RD? Then the only remaining task is getting the raw files from the camera to the ipad, which I guess would be done by either a Camera to USB3 Adapter or SD Card Reader Adapter for ipad?
  6. I have confidence this is coming, I just have no idea when, with the Files App coming in IOS 11, it remains to be seen. For those needing to replace an aging laptop, totally understandable you need this ability now. For me, I have a 2015 mbp (hopefully will last a few more years) and was so glad to be shown the workflow of using the icloud drive between the mbp and ipad to get my raw photos into AP for editing on my lap/couch! Just another reason we need Apple to create an iPad with capabilties to really replace a laptop as they keep saying.
  7. Thank you! Works when I disable that. Other than the Export issue, I cant believe how easy to use this App was, love it!
  8. I know you are busy but I have been told before when my question was not being answered to bump, so BUMP
  9. Sorry, didn't see the iPad Questions Subforum when I first posted. Anyway, I have tried again. And actually, in Export the cog wheel begins as soon as I tap the JPEG without me having to tap OK at the bottom. I think this is wrong since here are several options to select before clicking OK. Anyway, same thing the second try, but it did not crash out to the iPad Home Screen, it just stayed on the spinning cog wheel. I hit cancel after 20 minutes of that and tried the Save As option. This did save it to the AP Home Screen, BUT it is without any edits, just comes up as still in the Develop mode even tho I did click on Develop before trying to Export it. I also don't really want photos showing up on my AP iPad Home Screen, that is just too cluttered to me. I have had this workflow on my mbp since first using AP, i.e. developing, editing my photo and NOT saving a .afphoto copy. Just store all edited photos in Pictures on my Finder. I am a low level editor and the process has served me well so far on my mbp, want it to continue on my iPad without cluttering up my AP Home Screen. Please Help with my initial EXPORT issue. I am stuck unable to go any further if I can't export my photos back to my iPad iCloud drive. BTW, I have watched the Tutorial on Opening/Saving so I think I am following the correct steps. ETA: I checked things again and the Photo that I Saved a Copy does show up on the AP Home Screen on the iPad but on the iCloud drive it appears as a white screen with an AP logo in the middle and opens showing that also. Sigh, it all worked so well until I got to the Export step.
  10. I downloaded AP for iPad this morning. Loaded slowly but completed on my ipad pro 9.7". Used my mbp to put 2 raw photos from my canon into my icloud drive. Checked and they were visible on my ipad icloud drive as Cr2. Using my IPP and AP, imported one of the photos, was SO excited when it came into the Develop Persona as it should. Was super easy to edit, develop and even fixed the green eyes (dog photo) using the paint brush tool in the Photo Persona. At that point I thought Wow, this is great. Then, I only planned on trying to get the photo back into my ipad's icloud drive with all the edits intact. (Since this was just an initial test, I didnt want a bunch of duplicates) Anyway I tapped the very top of the screen's second button, Export showed some options and I tapped Jpeg and ok. That started the typical apple spinning cog BUT that went on and on and after about 5 minutes, flipped back to my ipad home screen. All my editing was lost. I have no idea if I performed the wrong steps to export edited photo back into icloud drive or ???. Help would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Thank you so much for the quick reply. And great work for getting an iPad Tutorial ready for Day 1. And also Great Price for Affinity Photo for iPad!
  12. Or more appropriately "how to use". I have an iPad Pro and am excited to buy AP for iPad. But I currently shoot Raw, tether my Canon camera to my Mac, they open in Photos App, I export them to Finder, AP opens them from Finder for editing in the Develop Persona. How am I going to do that on my iPad? If you dont have time to tell me, please advise where I can get a tutorial to do that. I tried but find nothing. TIA
  13. I just watched WWDC 2017 and I wont say "I Told You So"....but... I'm not sure when it will be available in the Mac Store
  14. Thank you very much for stating some of the differences. I have been using the Serif Engine from day 1 and after I got used to shooting raw photos, I set the Tone Curve to take no action, so sticking with that sounds like my best option. I take alot of photos of my black faced dog, so those arnt standard pics. But I will try both engines and compare.
  15. As a non-Tech person, I have no idea what is the best Raw Engine to use, Apple or Serif, when developing my photos. Or if it even makes any difference? Here are some details of my setup if these are a need to know: - photos shot in Raw format on a Canon 5d Mark III - computer is a Macbook Pro Please let me know if you need any more details to answer my question. Also it would be awesome if you could tell my why one of those would be better, if it indeed is.
  16. A static PDF Tutorial would be wonderful. But one thing that would have helped me, when first getting AP, and having never used an editing process any more complicated than in Apple Photos, would have been a tutorial on basic photo editing software. Because as I began to see, again at the beginning, there are similarities in all editing software. For examples, Layers, that is not proprietary to AP, and is one of the first things I had to learn, there was no choice. But other things I still dont understand: Vectors Rastersize Merge Visible Layers(what for) Simpler explanation for beginners on 8bit vs 16 bit Color Management Please dont try to take up the space here to explain those things to me. Some of them are discussed in the AP Tutorials but those tutorials still assume the beginner has some background in them and I, for one dont. Anyway, those above things are off the top of my head and there are others that are a part of the overall photo editing software process regardless of the creator i.e. AP, PS, etc. So my point to this post is if I and other beginners could be pointed to a good book on basic photo editing that contained the above and other topics, and background on what the topic means, that would be awesome. If we had some background, we might be able to figure out AP better, maybe even on our own. We also might be able to search for help better.
  17. Thank you for your response including your info regarding the direction the AP Workbook will go. And as I said I am sticking with AP and in fact, have just recently watched the tutorial on Regular Tone Mapping and Installing the Nik Collection. Both of those videos were easy to learn from and have made a big difference in my photos.
  18. "Written" instructions in a formal document! I dont care what its called.
  19. You didnt go back far enough then, I have been "stuck" and come on here asking for help and no answer
  20. I totally understand what you are saying. I grew up in a time when we played hopscotch and jacks vs sitting and thumbing thru an iphone. As I grew to be an adult and began to accumulate some possessions, most of them came with an Instruction Manual that was ok, overkill, but at least showed how to use it. Along came the computer age, no Instruction Manual, its just assumed you already knew how to use it. I have managed to learn to do what I want to do but will always struggle. I loved Affinity Photo, from first getting it on my MBP in Nov 2015. I kept up in the Forum's infancy and learned alot from the Q&A but it has now gone far beyond my capabilities. I am mostly ok with it, I really only want to use the basic steps with AP to improve my photos of my black faced dog. I venture into the Tutorials occassionally and add another process to my AP capabilities. I know an AP Manual is still on the roadmap but it would sure help so many that are overwhelmed. The tutorials are well done but the starting and stopping as you either perform the task on another device or jot down steps makes a written Manual seem so much better. One big issue that I have is that I have asked many questions that have not been answered. I have seen it written that the Staff always put new user questions at a priority but I read on here "just ask if you have problems, we will be glad to help" Not my experience and us non techy users still need continual help. I have made a post before that I was going to another editing software because I cant get my questions answered, but I cant find any that I like any better. So I'm sticking with it. Dont intend to hijack this thread, just wanted you to know I am another that understands!
  21. I'm predicting AP for iPad will be demoed on an upgraded iPad Pro (2) at WWDC June 2017 and be available for use with IOS 11 in the fall.
  22. I have a Canon 5d mkiii, shoot in RAW. Upon tethering the camera, I have it setup to import the pics into the Photos App. At that point I probably go about it the long manual way but I have been following these steps before it was an option to use Extensions for AP in the Photos App. My steps are to: 1. Select the Raw photos and Export them as Originals to my preferred place on my Mac 2. Open AP 3. Select the photos I want to develop (from the place I stored them on my Mac) and click Open They open in the Develop Module of AP. (For me), If I do not Export them to my Mac as Originals or if you try to open them in AP from my Photos App as they came from the camera, even if shot in Raw format, they show fullsizeoutput.jpeg as you saw.
  23. I have an iPad Pro 9.7" that I have to admit I bought in anticipation of Affinity Photo coming to the iPad. And since I am not an artist, or a gamer, dont take notes, obviously I have no reason for this IPP over the ipad Air 2 that I had. Overall its ok tho because I give whatever ipad I have lots of use justifying its cost (to me). But to the OP I would say: 1) wait for next announcement, hopefully soon of ipad pro 2 and even a new 10.5" size, 2) evaluate upgraded specs in each of the available new IPP's and choose the optimum and, 3) hope AP for iPad is released before the newly released IPP's are old!
