Hi The Artifex Forge, It could be that something went wrong. I have been having several issues with my AD for over a month. I've posted several requests for assistance on the forum in the last month and have been in constant contact with Serif support. They finally had me reactivate my app, so hopefully all the issues I have been having will get resolved. I resolved this issue by choosing another design concept.

Hi Hangman. Thank you for working on this. Nathan from Serif support also found that warp groups was the problem but resolved it a different way. I am posting their response just in case anyone else comes across this issue and need options. Also, they noted that it's not a problem with my system or file it's the app and that their techs will be investigating the matter. In this case, a crash report isn’t necessary, as we’ve been able to identify the issue within the specific .afdesign document. Due to certain conditions, crash reports can occasionally fail to generate, and this particular crash scenario isn’t related to your system. The issue appears to stem from how the exporter handles a ‘Warp Group’ layer nested within the top group layer (“The Mashed Potatoes”). Unfortunately, the app isn’t processing this object correctly, which is causing it to crash during export. To resolve the problem, I converted the Warp Group to a Curves object, re-applied the original blend mode and opacity settings, and was then able to export to SVG successfully. I’ve attached a corrected version of your .afdesign file—this should now export without issue. Of course, the app shouldn’t crash when working with Warp Groups, so we’ll be logging your original file with our developers for further investigation and a long-term fix. Apologies for the inconvenience, and thanks again for your patience."

Hi Hangman. The problem persists and happens anytime I choose to export a file I don't even need to choose or can choose a file type if I select Export as from the menu the app crashes. A crash report isn't generated. I have been in contact with Serif Support for over a month about the problem and it's still not fixed. I found another post in this forum from 2 years 8 months ago about the same problem with exporting SVG but via Apple and it was never resolved. There are some more recent posts. I can't believe in nearly 3 years with numerous updates Serif couldn't resolve the problem or hire techs to resolve the issue. There is no reason every file I create can't be exported. I can't even click the Export As without it crashing. I shouldn't have to reset my app to fix an ongoing export problem with Designer that Serif has been aware of for nearly 3 if not more years. It's a problem with their core app that has a bug that hasn't been exterminated. Pest control needs to be contacted to get rid of the bug, not the customer having to just suffer the loss or change their environment sort to speak to accommodate the pest. ---This is all metaphorically speaking of course. I'm not sure about clicking on Ctrl upon launch but I hit and held the Ctrl button at the time of launch and no menu opened up when Designer loaded. Btw Task Manager is no longer documenting AD crashes either. I mentioned previously that my Designer no longer generates crash reports. I guess it got tired of all the crashes and just gave up. I'm on version 2.6.2 now and the problem persists. I am very frustrated. I can't believe this problem has been going on for numerous updates and years and still no solution. If you contact a tech to fix a computer problem and they charge hourly, the average rate, if going by Microsoft techs is $60 an hour. One 8-hr work day is $480. I have been having some trouble applying styles in AD 2.6 but now I am working in 2.6.2. I've had various issues with the style I pick not applying and I can't figure out why. Or, after getting it to apply, any blend effect I attempt produces unexpected results and I don't know why. I have a RGB document. I applied the style, after several attempts it finally worked, and got the expected result. However, I want to darken the style a bit and it's giving me unexpected results. I have been emailing Affinity's tech support for about 2 weeks for an ongoing issue and they have been trying to resolve it but when they give me a solution they came up with on their end, it doesn't work on mine. I followed up with them 3 days ago and didn't hear anything back. I sent another email yesterday asking them to please give me a status update, but I still haven't heard anything. The ongoing issue has delayed my work by half a month. I need some assistance. I'm not sure if they will check this forum but if anyone can give me some guidance I would greatly appreciate it. I have graphics that I am trying to export as svgs and the app keeps crashing. It appears to be exporting but when I check the file location no file is found. I was getting crash reports but the app stopped generating crash reports. The only way I know a crash was handled by the app is when I open Task Manager and see crash handler but when I go to the crash reports location there isn't a report. When the app was still generating reports, I emailed them to tech support per their request to see what the issue was but haven't gotten a response. I have a lot of work I've done and I keep losing it because the app keeps crashing. I attempt to save the files as afdesign and it appears to save but when I open them sometimes they saved and sometimes they don't . Back on the 18th of March when the app was still generating crash reports, I sent the 3 dmp files for tech to check out. Do I need to submit them here?

Here's another file I worked on. Notice the file is showing as an eps. I grouped all the curves into individual groups in a layer file. The layer file already existed as this was a purchased file. All I did was deleted a rectangle that kept getting selected no matter what I did and just selected the curves for each graphic, grouped it, and then named the group. I exported the file as a pdf. I reopened it as you can see the file is a pdf but it messed up the grouping. I'm totally lost. What's causing the problem?! This one is the pdf file

Hi Everyone. Thank you all for all your help. I've tried all your suggestions and none worked for me. The app is not recognizing the layer. What appears to be nothing selected is a shape in the form of a yellow apple. I tried to use the ellipse tool to select a portion so that I could cut or erase it but none of the tools worked (selection, erase, knife). Nothing worked. I never could get the selection tool to function as it used to which was smoothly make a selection. I have to move on. If I come back to the project at a later time and it still doesn't work I will follow up on this post. Thanks again.

I've experienced this problem several times with eps files and pdf files. I have been emailing Affinity directly about numerous problems and this one just arose. I spent over an hour grouping curves for each image in a pdf file to make layer groups that make up a complete image. I labeled the groups and exported the file to overwrite the original file and reopened and all the work I did grouping is gone. This happened with an eps file and pdf file. Affinity support directly told me to create container layers to place groups. It's my understanding that when I select the curves and select group from the menu it creates a group layer with the curves inside. I thought this was the container layer but obviously, it's not because it keeps getting undone after export. I have been having problems for 2 days now and I am so frustrated. What is the problem? The below are the same images I emailed Affinity support. One is from when I was exporting the modified file with group layers. You can see one group with Dog 1...and the other is only curves. The group layers were undone or what I am understanding is a layer group.

I created a new image with no mask layers and the selection tool is still making jagged edges. I used the ellipse marquee tool. This isn't normal. Please someone look into communicating a resolution. I've never had this problem before and am only experiencing this since the latest update. If a solution can't be requested here, please let me know and I will send a direct email to support. Thanks.

Hi NotMyFault. I tried to use those tools but couldn't get them to work. I'm not sure if I just don't know how to use them correctly or if they didn't work because of something with the file. I bought the file and was trying to edit it but couldn't get those tools to work.

Hi NotMyFault. I changed to Pixel Persona earlier and when I attempted to use the Erase Brush to remove a part of the image it added a Mask layer. I want to remove the yellow part of the apple to the left of the bite mark. The reason is if the apple is bitten into that part would have been eaten away and only a bite in the apple would remain.

I updated to v 2.6.0 today and when I tried to use the Selection Brush Tool I kept getting a problem I did not experience before. The Selection Tool Brush keeps making jagged edges. I have tried to change brushes, refined, unchecked soft edges, and unchecked snap to edges. I tried all options selected and unselected and could not resolve the problem. Before this latest update, I never needed to adjust the settings on the Selection Tool Brush to get a smooth selection that went to the edges. I am trying to select a portion of a vector to remove it because I couldn't figure out how to get Shape Builder to work.

Hi. Thank you both for responding. It appears I need to move my post to the tech support area for desktop. My issue is for the desktop version. My design has only one layer and some blends are responding and others are not. I will see if anyone else posted this issue previously and if not I will create a new post in the appropriate area. My problem is similar so I am posting it here. Version is 2.5.7 I created a design and did not apply a blend mode. It has a gradient. I am scrolling through the blend modes and most are making the design disappear in the preview. I'm confused as to why this is happening. I can scroll to Pin Light and it will show an effect but if I scroll to Soft Light the preview is completely gone but shows an outline of the object. Any solutions to this problem or information as to why this is happening would be greately appreciated. For the options in the Darken section, I can't tell any changes. The only one not showing an effect is Color Burn. It disappears. For the options in the Lighten section, all disappears. For the options in the Overlay area, the only ones showing are Pin Light, Hard Light, and Linear Light. I can't tell any variation between them. For the options in the Difference area, I can't tell any changes. The only one not showing an effect is Divide. It disappears. For the options in the Hue area, the only one showing is Luminosity. For the options in the Average area, I can see clear variations between them. The only ones that disappear are Glow and Reflect. The below is what I am referring to when I say disappears.
