  1. I created a book comprised of several different elements. When I tried to save it and then export the book as a PDF, Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 repeatedly crashed. I ended up exporting each element individually and then adding the pages to the base PDF to create the book. VERY inconvenient. Bob Terry
  2. Since my Affinity Publisher was updated to version 2.4.0, I keep finding overlapping text frames and shape frames (in this case a rectangle). I cannot delete the rectangle, which has small x's spaced on the corners and sides. They often show duplicates of Master pages and I have to delete the contents. You can't move these shapes or delete them. I would surely appreciate some help. Bob Terry
  3. Why, thank you. It certainly is not explained anywhere.
  4. What does the + mean beside a text style? In InDesign, it means that the style is altered in some way. And you can correct the problem by overriding. How do you do this in Affinity Publisher 2.2?
  5. Thank you. By the way, when I tried clicking and dragging the color picker over a page, Publisher suddenly appeared in the System Preferences/Security & Privacy. I've now checked it.
  6. Correct. My Publisher isn't there. My InDesign is, along with several other apps. And I just tried the color picker...and it is working, at least when I copied a color from a file and used it as a fill for a shape. But why does the color picker go from a "picker" icon to crosshairs?
  7. I am using Catalina on my iMac. No Affinity product appears in my System Settings/Security and Privacy.
  8. I have noticed the same thing: the color picker, when clicked, looks like crosshairs and not the picker. It just doesn’t work.
  9. I have also noted that the backspace key doesn’t work, but the delete key does. With the update (on my iMac with Catalina and on my MacBook Pro with the latest beta of Ventura), the cursor often disappears, as does the horizontal scroll bar. Also selecting a portion of text shows no color at all, yet the text is in fact selected! Then suddenly the typical blue selection bar will appear at random times. I’ve even had the selection bar appear as a reddish pink bar. This update seems quite unstable with these fluctuations in performance. Why is it that when when my Publisher window is closed that when I click on the Affinity Publisher icon in the dock, the window does not automatically open. I have to right click and look at the names of the open windows/files in order to maximize them?
  10. I just exported a 4-page newsletter and it worked just fine exporting the PDF. My problems have been (since this upgrade) having to save and reboot in order to see text frames, text ruler, and several other items.
  11. But I STILL have the original problem. Besides, there are headers, tables, bulleted lists, number lists that do not have the basic paragraph text formt.
  12. I mentioned this in my last posting--that's the solution I found! But isn't there an easier way to apply a basic text style to an entire lengthy document without having to do this basically with each paragraph?? There's no way to set a shortcut for this activity or to embed this "feature" into the style itself. VERY cumbersome and time-consuming.
  13. Thank you so much for the reply. Boy, do I feel dumb!! I am in the throes of switching from InDesign to Affinity Publisher 2 and all in all, am loving your program. How the situation arose that you solved is totally user error! The only other situation I am encountering is when I place a Word document and apply a text style to it, the formatting that was in Word is done away with in Publisher. The only "solution" I have seen is to create character styles for italics and boldface and then apply them to the placed document before applying the text style. That sort of works but (a) it is totally cumbersome; (b) not only is the change appearing in the document itself but also on the master page! To correct that situation, even the elements from the master page are now simply text boxes that must be individually reset! (c) surely there is some way to make this a smooth process! If, when I apply the style, I right click on "Apply [style] to Paragraphs and Preserve Local Formatting", this does the trick, but there's no way to create a shortcut to do this and it would take so long to go through an entire journal each I time I apply a basic style like this. THanks again for the help to a newcomer. Bob Terry
  14. I am attaching the file of the article with the problem. When I reopened the file, the same issue was still present. I can't make a screen recording because I've simply stopped using the Beta version. I need to get this journal formatted and published soon. Bob T Sample file with problem.afpub
  15. I can refuce the size to one-page tables. That’s not the problem. I can’t change cell configuration or spacing. I havent checked in the non-beta version. I cant open the file from beta in 2.1.1.
  16. Here are 3 tables from the article I am currently working on. They have caused me enormous problems bringing them into Publisher Beta 2.2.0 (1971). By the way, when I open the corrupted article file on my MacBook Pro (using Sonoma Beta), the same pages are corrupted. I guess I will just have to delete that portion of the text and try again! Thanks for the help. Terry-Sample tables.docx
  17. I am attaching my performance settings. Since I don't really know what they are, I haven't touched them. I have left them just as they appeared when I opened this version...and I guess they're the same as they were in the previous beta version. I did turn off the hardware acceleration. The display was already set to Open GL.
  18. I am using Publisher Beta 2.2.0 (1971). My OS is macOS Catalina (version 10.15.7). Using this beta version, the cursor suddenly disappears and highlighting for selecting text also disappears. Clicking on a frame shows no handles. Yet, supposing that I have selected something, I can boldface it, delete, etc. Then...the cursor reappears as does the highlighting. This is totally unpredictable. Recently, in preparing an article to be published in a journal, text disappeared and unusual zigzag patters appeared as if the pages had been cut (see attachments). I have my email open as well as a browser; all other apps/programs are closed. Memory drainage is high. Unfortunately, I can't go back to the non-beta Publisher 2 because the document I am working on has been saved in the beta version. What to do? I am on a deadline!! Is anyone else experiencing such problems? Bob Terry
  19. I am using Publisher Beta 2.2.0 on my iMac (Catalina 10.15.7), and I've been encountering problems: Often when I click on the move tool to select text, the cursor cannot be seen and when text is selected, there is no blue bar indicating that selection. Then all of a sudden, the cursor reappears along with the section indication. I'm new with Affinity, moving away from InDesign because of the inordinate cost. I really am impressed, but I still have great difficulty. I edit a professional journal and am in the throes of preparing the next issue. I import Word documents (well, now I place them) in the template I've created. So far, the autoflow hasn't brought in the entire document. Importing tables from Word is almost impossible...and terribly frustrating!! It is not easy to create a new table and set up the various elements that I need. Surely there's an easier way to access the various features for text without having to click in several different places. Why can't features such as super/subscript be included on the main menu bar? Maybe some of my problems stem from my older OS on my iMac. I'm using the public beta Ventura for my MacBook Pro and with this new beta version of Publisher and the beta update from Apple, things are going much better. But I can't upgrade my iMac so I'm stuck with an older OS. I'm slowly learning Publisher and am so impressed. I'm sure that most of my "complaints" and comments are due to user error and newness on the scene. Bob Terry
  20. I have recently updated to Mac OS Sonoma beta 3. My Affinity Publisher 2 has many problems—the screen freezes, when i click on the 3 lines to close something in a studio, i get a crash every time.
