  1. Hello, Sorry I've only just seen this. Yes the 2 files in the folder "original files (not packaged)" are the 2 files that cause the crashes. I just updated to Publisher v2.3.1 without thinking and then wondered if the crash would have been fixed. I opened the 2 files directly from this Dropbox folder one after the other and it now crashes within a couple of seconds without me even having to do anything. I then opened them in the latest Publisher Beta 2.4.0 (2222) both using "make a copy" and by just opening the originals and I couldn't get it to crash at all with my limited testing. I should also probably say the crash isn't causing me any real problems - It only happened when I had both files open because I was copying items across, I just thought I should probably report it. If you need any other info from me just ask. Andrew.
  2. I've uploaded the files to Dropbox - both the Originals & packaged versions so you have the linked files available. I tested it with preflight set to 'never' and there were no crashes (it was previously set to 'Live'). The packaged versions of the files don't crash in the same way.
  3. Hello, Thanks for the reply but I already tried that and it made no difference. Is the "OpenGL" setting generally more stable then? I haven't had lots of crashes really but if it helps I'll give it a try. I just assumed the Metal setting would be more performant. I'm using an M1 MacBook Pro.
  4. I can reproduce a crash in Publisher by having 2 particular files open that I created today and scrolling one of them. I get random frequent crashes while working on the documents also, but I can reproduce it easily with the scrolling method. This happens from a fresh opening of Publisher and also after a reboot. Happens both with and without hardware (Metal) acceleration. After further research I found both files shared a linked eps logo file. When I saved new versions of the files with the EPS file embedded (so I could potentially post them here) I found that I couldn't reporoduce the crash with the embedded versions of the files. I can supply the files if needed. Attached video and crash report (might not be the crash report from the video but is from the same operation within a couple of minutes - I have lots of crash reports from around the same time) Affinity Publisher crash 2024-01-04.mp4 Affinity Publisher 2 Affinity Store-2024-01-04-214851.ips
  5. I'd like this fixed as well please. Why saving to the same folder you opened the file in isn't the default is beyond me. I can't believe this thread started in 2016 and this issue hasn't been fixed. I only started using Affinity regularly since v2 came out - I bought v1 but never really used it enough. It's the little annoyances like this that will make me not want to keep using it.
  6. They probably haven't got the resources to make this happen, but it's a shame because if they could make it work they could win a lot of Adobe users over - the current way of doing this in Indesign / Acrobat is terrible.
  7. Just tested this and confirm it works here.. Yay! Now if it's ok with everyone else I'd like to pretend my post yesterday triggered them to fix this. 😀 I'd like to Thank the Affinity team for sortiing this out at such short notice. I'd also like to thank my wife for being there *points over there* and my kids. But most of all I'd like to thank all of you for buying the software and making this possible. 👍 Peace, out.
  8. Thanks for the info. I clicked on one of the linked files in Resource manager in the version in Dropbox and Publisher crashed completely and now won't open that file at all without just crashing and disappearing straight away - which is a bit of a worry but thankfully this was a test file. This has worried me more than a bit though so I've turned off Dropbox link for now. I'd consider this a serious bug and is the first time I've seen Publisher crash so I'm now concerned about continuing to use it until a fix is released. It's probably fine outside Dropbox but my workflow is geared around all my work being inside of Dropbox.
  9. I found this thread because I'm having this problem (linked files not updating, Publisher v2, Mac). Reading through I realised that it is the Dropbox thing - all my work is saved to a Dropbox folder on the internal drive. Tested by packaging the job to a folder outside of Dropbox, made an edit to a linked Designer file, Publisher updated straight away. Did the same test again on the original files in Dropbox - no updates. My workaround so far has been to just 'replace' the file with itself, but now I've seen how seemlessly it is supposed to work I'd quite like it if it could be fixed to work within Dropbox.
  10. My transition to Affinity hit the rocks today when I've got a job to create an editable PDF. These used to be a large proportion of our work until about a year ago (client got assimilated into a larger organisation) and I'd forgotten how important it is to be able to do this. I'd even pay extra for a separate 'Acrobat like' Affinity product to do this if it could be switched as seemlessly as the others with studio link. That would be amazing because even doing this in Adobe is clunky and rubbish. Unfortunately today after a couple of months of being able to transition pretty much all my work to Affinity I'm going to have to fire up Indesign & Acrobat for this one.
  11. I know this is an old thread but I just discovered it when looking for a solution to this problem. I created an overlay graphic in Designer to place into an existing Publisher doc someone else was working on. Set it up at the same page size, with the same bleed. imported it into publisher - bleed disappears. I just assumed there must be a way to change this behavior, but apparently not. There are 2 easy solutions but none are quite right - either I can just copy / paste the layer into Publisher. It works but then I don't get any future updates to the original file applied in Publisher. Or I could set up the page size to include the bleed area. It works but it's not ideal given the otherwise tight integration between the apps. Please consider making this an option.
