  1. Thanks ... I am working with so many apps and am in contact with so many developers, companies, communities but Affinity is not one of them as I just don't need the applications often enough. No idea about the feature request process here Good to know at least that I am not missing anything, it seems. I just don't get it .. why would you make it so complicated. Installed the free XnResize app now, does the job better - but I would love of course to use not so many different apps for different situations
  2. Hi there, I try to like Affinity Photos (no difference with v2) but my workflow is just not fast with it. Is there a way around it. I want to bulk edit photos. That can be 5 photos now, 10 photos in an hour, 4 photos later, etc. - so I need to be able to start this process fast. Right now Open Affinity Photos Go to File → New Batch Job Add Photos and navigate forever till you find the right folder (there is no drag and drop from Finder possible here, which is the first big disadvantage) Do the entire bulk edit configuration (it is not possible to access some kind of presets e.g. preset-web-optimized; this is in particulare annoying when I am working with max-pixel width/height settings, which I need to even look up all the time in the forum here) Huge improvements would be Allow drag and drop photos from Finder Even better would be to just select the photos and right click and select something like "Edit in bulk in Affinity Photos" Offer presets for the bulk edit settings (that would be a huge timesaver) Am I missing some features here and don't know how to use the software? Or is Affinity missing a lot on usability in this case?
  3. @walt.farrell on my 5th attempt I managed it .. I think you need to Authorize on root level. I always just selected the destination folder I wanted the files to be saved. I cannot even show now, because now I cannot "unnauthorize" to show it again. I assume the solution is to just pick the root folder on the system for authorization. It did work at least.
  4. Perhaps you'll read this again - I tried the batch job again, but the OK button is always greyed out. I remember, a couple of weeks ago when we talked about this, the same happened but I made it somehow work. I don't see any setting I could change to make enable the "OK" button at the batch job dialog
  5. Thanks a lot! I didn't find it the most intuitive way, it's also not possible to just drag and drop images into the source. However, it does work. What's the reason for unticking parallel processing and ticking A box? If I understand, I probably can memorize better
  6. Hi there, I am looking for an application that allows me to bulk-resize images to a max-width. I noticed most apps I tested can bulk-resize images, however this is problematic if then a smaller image gets upscaled (which should definitely not happen). I thought Affinity Photo for sure can do that, but I am not successful yet. I only noticed that there are lengthy discussions about this topic (years ago) and people who worked a lot to create macros. Macros I don't know what they are all doing, and if it still works well. Is there still no solution for that in Affinity Photo? The only way I found that offers a GUI is https://optimage.app/ to do that. However, as I purchased Affinity already, I would prefer to do it with Affinity Photo. Any update and information on that? Markus
  7. Thanks ..yes, I know PDF is quite complex and you could study PDF itself for many months. Now, that I think about it, my post could really sound like I am trying "to steal" something from PDFs from the web .. not the case, I could easily also just request a folder with all graphic assets from the graphic designer. In some projects communication and collaboration is so cumbersome, I try to get just as much I can without bothering someone And if the PDF from the graphic designer works for me to get the most out of it, then this saves me hours of back and forth emailing and waiting all the time Of course, in my scenario, it would be best if the graphic designer just delivers what he/she should actually deliver (but that's a different story)
  8. Thanks - that's a very good advice Then it seems I am good to go and ready to work with the files 👍
  9. Thanks @lacerto 😀 I basically got the designs for a website a few times in PDF. I used to get it in Adobe XD, but some just send you a PDF. If the PDF is good enough, I rather not request for another format (people are just too busy and if PDF works, why not just use it, I am faster exporting what I need myself than waiting quite often) PDF can be saved in many ways, probably it depends also what the source application is (e.g. Affinity Designer saved as PDF, Adobe InDesign saved as PDF) The results I exported look astonishingly good, but of course I would always aim for the best source I can get and optimize myself for web from there. Agree about fonts .. in the particular case, I don't mind about fonts, but fonts are definitely not embedded when opening a PDF with Affinity Designer. It accesses the system fonts, so they must be installed (and getting the exact right fonts is not always easy, better have them embedded) In my case I do not need another PDF, just export parts of it, e.g., background elements, icon set, logo, etc. to get it in SVG or PNG/JPG I am just surprised and happy that Affinity Designer can read the PDF so well. And the editor who created the PDF obviously saved it in a way that includes all the layer, which is amazing.
  10. Hi there, until recently, I did not know that I can open a PDF file that was created with Adobe XD or InDesign in Affinity Designer and am able to see and work with all the individual layers. This can come in handy of course, e.g. I receive a screen design in PDF, and can export the elements, icons, images myself from the PDF and do not need to request it from the designer. However, I am not sure if I should do that as I am not sure about the quality? Are those elements lossless saved in the PDF? The elements I exported so far look pretty good and I can export those as SVG or any other format I like. Is this a good way of doing this? Or is it actually a no go, and you definitely should request the original sources. Thanks in advance Markus
