  1. Replying to Mark: Since my attempted update to AP and AD on Feb 4 and my subsequent uninstall and re-install of 1.8.something of each I have not had the time to fiddle with development issues. You should know that at least on my system: crash happens right after splash and there is no opportunity to get into the settings. I was simply wondering when this matter would be closed and when it would be safe to update. Funny that the "nVidia" bug which was present for previous versions of AP and AD were not an issue but is an issue for 1.9. This temporality informs me that it is Affinity that did not conform to nVidia, not the other way around. Its all about causality. Cheers, Walter
  2. So, the word to all customers with nVidia graphics cards: you're out of luck and should not update Affinity products to 1.9 level. Is that it? I have been using nVidia cards since I first purchased all 3 Affinity products and in the last 18 months I haven't updated my nVidia drivers, yet on Feb 4 when I updated Photo and Designer--both refused to launch and it's nVidia's problem? I think the White House is looking for a new press secretary, lol.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions, but they seem to require that I launch the application to get to Edit/Preferences... I cannot open the apps (Photo or Designer). That is going to put me squarely in Groundhog Day.
  4. The problem for my installation (I am running an nVidia Quadro) is that I do not even get the chance to switch off Open CL, as immediately after the splash screen - Photo and/or Designer immediately goes belly-up. Does Affinity have any timeline for correcting this?
  5. Just downgraded Photo and Designer to 1.8.5 and all is good. Need to be productive, not just with Affinity, but with Solidworks and a host of other demanding apps. Now I am productive again...woo hoo! Thanks for the hand, Dan...when I have "free time" I will try 1.9 again. Cheers, Walter
  6. Dan C & Gang, I checked my nVidia driver and it is very much up-to-date (452.06). This does not seem to be a path to nirvana, so my new question is, for me to "downgrade" my Affinity installation: do I need to uninstall the 1.9 versions before re-installing 1.8.4 versions? Cheers, Walter
  7. Have been happy user of Photo, Designer and Publisher for a couple years. Just upgraded Photo and Designer from 1.8 to 1.9 and they don't even launch. See splash screen for a couple of seconds then nothing. Looking for any help I can get, as I am dead in the water now.
