  1. The function of the selection brush (W) is not always clear to me.

When I use the selection brush via the toolbar, I never see when something is being added or subtracted.

The mode display (top left) also has no visual added value.

When I add or subtract a path from an image in Affinity Photo, it is not clearly displayed in the mode.

I can click the icons at the top in the mode, but when I press the "Alt" key combination to subtract, the mode at the top does not change.

A "+" or "-" display for the selection brush would also be good, so that you know when the selection is being added or subtracted.

  2. I have a question about isolating a photo with Affinity Photo 2.6 Beta.

I would like to isolate a photo perfectly. Affinity Photo recognizes the object well,
but unfortunately I cannot refine the hair tips at the top. As soon as I use refine,
the entire selection around the object is refined. But I only want to refine the hair tips at the top. How could I solve something like this with Affinity Photo?

Is the image quality too bad for an isolator? I took the photo with the Canon R10 (RF35mm F1.8 Macro IS STM), but unfortunately the edges of the sweater are very unclean.

I would be very grateful for a few tips.

  3. Hello dcarvalho84,

I've now tested the current version of Rightfont and Typeface. The Typeface 3 APP for the Mac is super fast and I think it's perfect for my purposes.

Both programs definitely have their advantages and disadvantages,

although I really like Typeface a lot.

"I think another advantage of Typeface is the synchronization with Google Fonts"

Unfortunately, I didn't really find that in Typeface.

Is it easy to synchronize Google Fonts?

Thank you again for your recommendation.

I'm going to test Typeface 3 for another 15 days and then buy it. Thank you dcarvalho84

  4. I can understand if there is a new interface from Apple for the new Quicklook function and it takes time to implement it in the software.

I have other programs that run on macOS Sequoia, where the preview graphics
including Quicklook are always displayed perfectly.

Even with Affinity Designer 1.10.8 there was always the problem that the Quicklook graphics for files with the extension .afdesign were always displayed very small and pixelated.

Now with Affinity Designer 2.5 I am really annoyed that it is no longer possible to see the preview images at all and a Quicklook function is also not possible.

It's a shame, I was always very happy with version 1.10.8 and the new functions really convinced me to switch to version 2.5. But at the moment everything is not running so well.

  5. Unfortunately, the complete file preview for the individual Affinity programs (example file abc.afdesign) is now missing under macOS 15 Sequoia.

Under Mac OS 14, there were still small preview images as soon as you pressed the space bar. This preview

was super small and pixelated compared to other programs, but now the preview is completely missing.

Is the Quicklook function no longer available in Serif?

  6. I really ask myself how something like this can happen? I've had the impression twice that two different formats look somehow different. The first time I noticed it was with a logo. As abra100pro has already written, it's about accuracy. Unfortunately I no longer have the different logos. But I noticed the behavior too. At first I thought why did you change the logo.

  7. Recently I've seen that various errors are being reported to Serif via the forum. The users here in the forum are really great.
Unfortunately, I've also seen that Serif hasn't been doing much recently. Various errors that have been known since version 2 are simply not being fixed. In the forum it says that they will be forwarded to the developers. Why is that? Summer break?

  8. It would of course be a dream if things ran better with the new operating system. The start times for the Affinity apps are around 20 seconds for me. I use the MacMini M1 with 16 GB RAM and 512 SSD under the current version of macOS Sonoma 14.

How well is the beta version of MacOS Sequoia running for you overall?
Does it run faster than Sonoma?

  9. Hello,

I somehow have the impression that errors that were fixed in one version are present again in the next update. How can that be?

If I draw a rectangle in Affinity Designer Beta 2.5.0 (2437) and create a color gradient in this rectangle, it works without any problems. But if I select a color on the color palette and drag this color into the gradient, Affinity Designer crashes completely.

  10. Hello Hangman,

Yes, I had already read the error in the forum with version 2 back then
and didn't want to make a special post.

I think the error has been around for a long time, but it was always there until version 2.5
not yet fixed. You can see since when the error was logged.

Maybe the problem will be solved and it will be there in a next update.

    Thank you

  11. If I draw a rectangle in Affinity Designer and then create a gradient, it is displayed correctly in Affinity Designer. Now I want to select a color from the color palette. I now drag this color onto the line using Prague and Drop, Affinity Designer immediately crashes. This didn't work in Affinity Designer 2.4.2 and also in the current beta 2.5. But with 1.10.8 this always works without any problems. Is this problem already known? If not, could this be included so that the problem is fixed in a next update?
