  1. The attached jpgs show what happens when I open an in-camera multiple exposure raw pic in Affinity. The jpg opens correctly but when I open the raw file it appears magenta. I've also attached the original raw file. Taken with a Canon RF. I was hoping the problem might have been sorted in 1.9 but it's still happening. It opens correctly in Digital Photo Professional and in ON1. IMG_7183.CR3
  2. I have about 400 photo files scanned at various resolutions that I need to resize so that they are all at a consistent width of 20cm at 300dpi. When I open each file the units defaults to pixels. Is it possible to choose to default to centimetres, so that when I open the resize document menu I wouldn't have to change the units from pixels to centimetres each time before changing the size and dpi.
  3. If the only programme you use is Affinity, then it’s no problem. But the real world isn’t like that. There isn't a display issue with Quark. Its tool icons are sized to work perfectly well with all the other programmes I use including Word, Acrobat, Excel, Mail, Firefox, iTunes, Realplayer, Powerpoint, to name just a few. I’ve been using some of them for over 30 years and as far as I’m concerned, they are the “correctly functioning applications!" Affinity is the new kid on the block and if you don’t understand the logic of why you should scale your icons to match those of other programmes to make use of your programme and switching between applicatins easy, then there’s not much hope for you! If there’s a way of “local DPI switching for a specific application” then I would be grateful if you would explain how to do it with Affinity, as that will obviously solve my problem.
  4. Sorry Psenda, but experience tells me you’re wrong. My workflow over the past 30+ years in graphics and printing has been something like 50% Quark Xpress and 40% Photoshop. I switched between them many times a day with no problem with the relative size of the tool icons. Both applications were "the correct/readable size". Now that I’ve retired I can no longer justify the excessive monthly payments to Adobe for the pro bono work I do for a couple of local charities, and my photography hobby, hence moving to Affinity. I’ve trialled several other photo editing programmes and Affinity has by far the best range of facilities I’ve tried what you suggest is "the right way" ie changing the screen resolution, but it makes Quark and other programmes impossible to work with because Quark's tool icons become enormous. And having to change the screen resolution as I swap between programmes is an unrealistic expectation. Furthermore, there’s a great empty gap below the tool icons on the left hand side of the screen, as demonstrated by the attached screen shot, that could easily be filled by larger icons and cause less damage to the eyesight of your older users!
  5. Thanks – I realise that. Constraining helps. And now I've discovered that I can colour the grid to make it visible I think I'm getting there. Thanks everyone for your help.
  6. OK thanks – got it. The writing is so small I didn't recognise Lyr as the layers panel. There's only the background layer. But I've now found that if I save the cropped file then reopen it before using the perspective mesh it works OK, which seems a bit odd. Do I have to save the file after using each tool?
  7. Sorry – I'm not sure what you mean by the layers panel unless this is it – I'm very new to this after using Photoshop for 30 years.
  8. Thanks. The perspective tool sounds obvious but I can't get anything to happen. At the bottom of the screen it says drag handles to apply perspective, but I can't see any handles to drag!
  9. I've a pic of a poster but the camera wasn't parallel to it so the shape is distorted – it's wider at the top than the bottom. It's easy enough to rotate it or stretch it but how do I undistort it? I tried the way I would have done it in Photoshop but that didn't work and I've watched all the videos that might have given me a clue.
  10. Hi. I've just come to Affinity after years with Photoshop and I'm having problems finding the tools – they're all so small that I'm thinking I might have to buy a magnifying glass. Is there any way of resizing them please?
