I finally sized the image correctly

cassie7.afdesignWhenever I open a new crescent shape and switch to stroke mode, a line attaches to the top of the shape. I am unable to click on it and remove it as doesn't respond as a part of the shape. Not sure if I attached the file correctly.

I think this has helped me to understand that when the objects are placed side by side, and I noticed the change in the skew, I thought there was an error. Then I started correcting every object back to 0, and that was the wrong thing to do. I am trying to correct something that isn't broken. Is that correct? Thank you for your post.

I shut down my program and went back in and double clicked on the balloon and they were separated after 3 days of trying. Maybe that shortcut worked after all, and I needed to go in and out of the file once again. I will try this if it happens again, and see if this helps from now on. Those odd ungrouping in red outlines never reoccurred after the first day. I love this program it is allowing me to write and illustrate books with my grandchild. She is already learning on this program. People like you are changing lives with this program. Your help is appreciated more than you know!!!!

It will ungroup both of them at the same time. When I start with a grouped object and ungroup them the first grouped object still maintains its own grouping. What is unusual is when I slid the top balloon over the bottom balloon they grouped as one. I have never had that happen before. I am hoping I heard your instructions right and I took this file from my affinity designer folder on desktop. balloons2.afdesign

I hope I did it right this time thanks for your patience the file may be too large so let me know if that is a problem. The balloon when moved picks up the other balloon and groups it where i cannot move them separately. If I got this wrong I will try again, no one I know understands mac, serif, or my system.

I think I made a thumbnail file, 16 hours of bad mistakes, let me know if I was successful.

I reproduced this image 4 times I was unable to separate out these two images after 4 tries. Good luck on this problem I really really hope I helped in someway.

Did I copy and paste the screen shot correctly - this is an example of two images being grouped when only one was copied and pasted. I have had many issues today of ungrouping when copying and pasting. I will keep trying to get you a thumbnail or image if you cannot view this. I have little experience in sending the screen shot. I am unable to function today with my work. Now I am getting concerned.

Some new files cannot function when ungrouped, as the feature to move images forward and backward within the picture does not function. That feature is still functioning on the old files, so I am having to work around this for now. Also when trying to select images, there is no select feature that happens just a line that surrounds the selected object, then if you close the file and re-open it then the select feature is on. That issue I have had for a year, and I have mentioned it before, but could not forward a sample due to copyright issues at work. Today so far I am not having the red surrounding all my images and ungrouping them without my requesting to ungroup. I work approximately for 8 hours a day on this program, and know it well enough to not question if it is my lack of knowledge on how it works that has caused this. The way it functions and then does not function seems to me to indicate a problem or a bug. Hope this helps.

I forgot to mention that I did disable snapping and it still happened. Thanks for your input.

I have snapping enabled for margins, and objects and of course those lines are red to line things up, and stay in their proper function, but never every shape within every picture even if you are not ungrouping it. Even turning off the snapping it still happens. Hmm it seems odd. It comes up and fades. Now after working for 4 hours it suddenly stopped. I am suspecting something strange, because the whole movement within the program slowed while it was overlaying these red lines within the picture, even trying to do simple tasks was extremely slow. Thanks so much for following me to the right forum.

I am getting a red outline when grouping and ungrouping items, as well as when I am just moving over my work. I can't duplicate it for you, because it fades within a few seconds. I haven't changed anything knowingly in my set up. Is this a bug? Or is this a deliberate feature I added accidentally. Thanks for your time.

Absolutely, I am beginning to think that I am having issues with my graphic pen, it is starting to act odd and couldn't copy and paste four times in a row. So if it happens again I will for sure do that. Thanks so much for your input, I am achieving magnificent results from serif and never dreamed I could illustrate in such a way for my books!!!

One other odd behavior is that it decided what the stroke outline would be and my stroke was set at O. Luckily for the past few days it hasn't happened again. I also noticed that odd things happen after I have been working on my files for over 6 hours, so I am wondering if letting the battery get low, or not shutting down every so often is something I should be doing. I am going to try that and see. Love this program it has meant everything to me, because of the illustrations I can produce for my children's books!

I selected all to copy and paste a grouped image like I have hundreds of times before and the image took a selected color from a different file and outlined all the shapes. I couldn't undo the color outline and had to re-do each outline on the individual shapes. Any thoughts on why this happened. I know we have a feature to outline all shapes at once, but not in the middle of a copy and paste, and not when I have not selected a color in the file. I would hate to repeat this problem, if I am inadvertently doing this somehow. If anyone can help me I can't figure this out. It hasn't happened again on other grouped images. Any input would be so appreciated!!

When I click on the artistic text tool why would the split screen mode come up instead? The artistic text tool won't function when the split screen mode is up. Then when I can access the artistic text tool and I click on it then the wheel spins. I found a workaround on this. It seems to happen on old files only. So I copy and paste the file and delete the old file if it gets stuck in that situation. The blue dot appears on the bottom of the split screen mode between the words, which is not a normal situation I believe? I do not use split screen mode. The malfunction of the artistic text tool seems to randomly attack different files so I was able to get my submissions done. Sometimes these things just iron themselves out over time I have noticed. Especially with updates. Thanks for listening.

The two previous files that did not work with the artistic tool now work. I tried to re-create the problem, but I cannot forward the file because of copyright issues. If this helps the files that cause the wheel of death to spin, have a dark line down the center sometimes. On the left of the line at the bottom it says vector, and on the right it says pixel. There is a circle on the bottom of the line that is colored in blue and is centered between the words vector and pixel. I am trying to reproduce this to send to you on a new generic file. Hope this helps.

I just loaded the February update and the artistic text tool still crashes serif.

Unfortunately they never worked for the last three items but I didn't use those shapes in my children's books anyway so I thought I would just not mention it for awhile. I am thinking I can reload the affinity designer for the other issue, because I really need the artistic text tool now for a submission.

The customized toolbar with the library of shapes did return, I hadn't checked in a few weeks. Sorry for the misinformation, however, they never did restore the lower three shapes that are still non functioning after re-trying to load them again. Look forward to hearing from you.

When I use the artistic tool the beach ball wheel of death starts spinning. The only way out is to force quit. Also I still have the issue with the heart, tear, and callout ellipse shape missing. I am also missing the library of the shapes that I used to reset the missing shapes before. I am being patient with that issue, as I was told it was from a bug. Thanks for listening.

I had the strangest thing happen when I was pasting an object. A sentence from a google doc appeared with a transparent background instead of my object. The object would not copy and paste after removing the doc so I rebooted and so far no surprises. Just thought I would let you know in case this is important in some way.

I didn't even think of that and it worked!!! I had someone take a look at the set up on my computer as well. The way the computer has been set up since installing serif has worked well for the last year and a half. These new issues just came up since the update before this last one. The last update resolved everything except the pesky freeze on the move tool, but double clicking or exiting out of the program works for now. Last year I had random shapes that would appear within my program and that was a bizarre thing as well, but again one update and they were cleared. Now back to my drawings, I am very happy with such a simple solution. I work such long hours on my illustrations, that sometimes I forget to stop and take a look at the obvious solutions staring me in the face. Again, thanks!!!!!
