  1. I'm extracting text from a datasheet created in Publisher for use as an online datasheet created in CS6 Dreamweaver. I've been going crazy trying to figure out how to avoid having text copied from Publisher randomly bringing along P SEP and L SEP unicode characters with it (see attached). The problem occurs in the previous and beta versions of Publisher. I've tried pasting the copied text as text only into Dreamweaver, where the characters don't appear (even in code view!), BUT when I look at it in Microsoft Edge, they pop up. Oh, and that's another problem: not all browsers display the characters (Safari doesn't). As a workaround until Publisher is fixed, can someone recommend an app that will display these characters so I can delete them?
  2. Chiming in on this. Publisher is including unicode L SEP and P SEP characters in copied text that remain in the text (invisibly of course!) when pasted into an HTML editor using the Paste and Match Style command. And then they pop up randomly when viewed in browsers. Right now it's Microsoft Edge where they show up.

  4. Huh. So it's intermittent. That's not good. Thanks for checking it out, I can't imagine why it doesn't work for me. I'm on a Mac still running Mac OS High Sierra, are you using the latest Mac OS?
  5. I use tables a lot, so the problem where Publisher doesn't let you click to insert the cursor when the text is in the last column of a table is annoying. As shown in the attached video, the cursor can be inserted as expected in any column but the last one. Depending on zoom magnification, the cursor is blocked 5 to 3 characters from the right boundary of the column.   6. The screen capture of the error is attached. I thought this beta version fixed the incompatibility with 1.8.6.
  7. Thanks, Walt! That's good to know. My original point was that the process could be more intuitive. Is there somewhere that I missed that explains what you just told me?
  8. In the attached document, there are several instances of multiple spaces where there should be one (sentence beginning with " With an IP67 rating" for example). Doing a find for two spaces incorrectly returns no results. CT1005EIP67_datasheet_500000XX.afpub
  9. Downloading brushes could be more intuitive. So I registered the beta, then went to download the brushes. They appeared but there was no explanation as to what to do with them. A download or install button would have been nice. Otherwise a brief explanation of where the brushes belong (i.e., which app) would be helpful. Still confused about it, and since I closed the window, I can't figure out how to reopen it.
  10. Thanks for the detailed explanation. I don't remember changing the font color from 100% K or adding the white outlines, but I"m glad it's fixed. Appreciate it!
  11. BINGO! Man, I love this forum! I fixed the outline problem, but where does it say I'm using rich black? And is rich black usually an issue?

I can't figure out why a Publisher doc that's been printed as a Postscript file, then converted by Acrobat Distiller (using the high quality print settings) is displaying the fonts so poorly in the Mac Preview app. The styles are the same as in previous similar docs, so I'd appreciate any assistance.   13. When opening a passworded PDF, the displayed window shows the box for entering the password and the list of fonts that need to be updated. If you update all the fonts and then key in the wrong password, your time was wasted because you'll have to reconfigure the fonts when asked to reenter the password. If you enter the password correctly without configuring the fonts, the chance to update the fonts doesn't come again. You may be able to edit the fonts elsewhere, but I couldn't find it. It would be nice if the password panel appeared separately, then when the correct password was accepted, the window with the fonts list displayed.
  14. The large icon setting just increases the space around the small icon instead of making it larger (see attached)
  15. Hmm. I read the caption saying "The Table Formats panel displaying available tables." as "these are the available tables". Are there no default formatted tables (available by uploading maybe)? Because the one that comes with the table is pretty basic.
  16. I'm not seeing the four default table formats mentioned in the Help (see Table-formats-from-Help.png). What I'm getting instead is a single format (see Table-formats.png). Is the Help out of date?
  17. There's no ruler when working inside tables, so creating bullets and such is much more painful than it needs to be.
  18. Whoa! That was fast. Appreciate the help, but the workarounds on that thread require too much time or too many steps. The Photoshop trim tool is a nice timesaver, because it's faster and more reliable than cropping an image by hand. That said. cropping is the next best option for my workflow. That thread helped a lot in that one of the Affinity staff said there is no Trim tool.
  19. I meant a picture that has a large area of white surrounding the main part of the image (maybe you started with a large image and sized it down leaving a lot of whitespace behind). In Photoshop, you click on Trim, hit return, and it automagically removes the excess leaving just the main image, as shown in the attached graphic. Beats having to use the crop tool. trim_example.tif
  20. Photoshop has a trim option that automatically crops an image to remove extra white space, is there an option for that in Photo?
  21. Except that you can't shift the images inside the not-frame or resize them until the not-frame is converted into a picture frame. True, the issue about the frame was separate from facing pages not working as expected. Quark doesn't create a blank page when you turn off Facing Pages, but InDesign does. So it looks like Publisher is following the leader on this one. I think you and R C-R are right that this isn't a bug.
  22. Alright! I don't know why the images were floating, but I did discover Layer > Convert to Picture Frame, so that took care of the problem.
  23. Aha! Light begins to dawn. This doc was imported from a PDF. I assumed Publisher put the images in picture frames because when I click on them, the Edit Image and Replace Image buttons appear. If APu didn't put them in picture frames, what frame did it use? Text? That would be weird.
