Big help, and I printed out some shortcuts and will see how I get on, because I hadn't found this overview and can now hop to it. Didn't think to screen shoot but these are my "bumps" Illustrator has a magnifying glass [find in layers] in the bottom of the layer panel and it's "missing" in affinity for some reason (it has everything else) [Select same] is also an icon in the tool bar. [Insert] I hope I'll find it in the shortcuts..? Cheers

Greetings, So I'm trying out the V2 trial now, I bought V1 but never really got into it and stuck with Illustrator. I'd like to change over, I really like the pixel persona but there just so much affirmative control which seems to be missing and I can't find answer in any tutorials so I'll try posting some here, maybe I can get some answers. The brush panel: 1. There's one brush I use, the "41" in engraving but I need 3-4 different sizes, because it's just quicker to select the sizes than to [[+/-]] all the time so I duplicate one into a personalised set. I has two measurements depending on the panel, in [stroke] it's "pts" while in the [properties] it's "pixels"??! Why is it not the same?? 2. I set the size I need in the panel "save as" and it will change appearance in the [brush] panel but or it definitely doesn't stroke accordingly, or goes thinner or back to default or whatever? Is this a bug? 2b. Strokes also don't immediately "react" to brush/size change? There is some disconnect between selection and mode [tool; node or move] I just haven't figured.. The [layers] panel: When you lock a collapsed layer everything on that layer still remains active in that layer??! + there should be a [finder] somewhere to selected item(s) [Select] items is just "confusing" at best. Lastly : Why is there no keyboard shortcut for [select] [same: fill, stroke etc] but at the bottom of a roll down menu? Also the [insert] functions could definitely use keyboard short cuts. Best to you, hopefully it makes sense and I can get some help.

@Alfred: the conversion happens during the editing (fitting) process. I never asked it [Rectangle, Ellipse, Rounded Rectangle, Triangle] to become a [Curve] (that happened unbeknownst to me and I only found out by remaking a [Rounded Rectangle])

Well, that explains my headache, it's not obvious (and it does not make sense). Cheers.

Alright, I managed by making a [rounded rectangle] instead and it worked, easy peasy as it should. Somewhere manipulating my rectangle apparently compromised my [Mask] by making it into a [Curve] which will not do the trick. Question: how do you make a custom shape from a rectangle (re)become a [Clipping Mask] when it's a (Curve)? (Why does editing (Rectangle) become (Curve)?) Shout out to Telemax! Aces

To get the clipping I needed I went back to Illustrator, exported it as a PNG and placed it...? There must be an easier way.

No matter what layer order I try this [Mask Layer] [Drag] [Group] repeat, left, right back and forth, I get "nothing" or something different. It has to be a bug. I can't even merge them. Just a clipping of that image, it's all I want!

Actually it was the the only way I could make it do what seems like clipping, which was rasterising (curve (which was just a transformed rectangle w. rounded corners)).. The result however "transparent" The other methods did not work. Image just became invisible. Anyway.. if Mask Layer had worked as expected I wouldn't be here...

Job: helping redesign a dashboard w. fixed . 1. My document seems intent on remaining in some funky transparency mode ( all layers NORMAL and I cannot locate ANY function or settings to "reset" layers or colours..) 2. "Path" control is excellent incl. transformation but then (rectangle) turns into (curve) and from there it just behaves "whacky". 3. Clipping mask: the "Mask layer" button in bottom of layer panel does nothing. I select (curve) [normal] over (on top of) image, they group in top layer and (img) is now completely "invisible" -> I put (img) over (curve) [normal] and the image fades out to some funk "Transparency" almost invisible. Pretty simple things are apparently not simple. Explanations would be appreciated. Cheers

I agree. It is so close and yes, some things are actually clever but there are some critical "misses" + "glitches" which might not be well explained or even covered. "Help" is not all-encompassing.

Sure feels like a Beta to me, there are a lot of "glitches" or "illogical" holes in the user experience. Thx for the tips. It's a bit "backward" or makes for more work around the actual work. I will check out the forums. Thx again.

Hello, I searched the threads. It might just be me or it was mentioned under a different headline. Sorry about that. 1/ Why is the whole image affected by ADJUSTMENTS intended for a single selected layer?? I can't find any locking, separation, nothing except hiding all the other layers which defeats purposes of adjustments. 2/ Selecting an area (object) on one layer and trying to just FLIP, flips the whole layer instead of the selected alone??? 3/ If a placed image isn't rasterised before editing, marquee area, and you cut, the layer/image is deleted entirely.!!? 4/ After a while the layers show nothing, when working w. 10+ layers? No thumbnails, nothing, just dark grey squares. (see added picture - 3 objects in cluster on each their layer because you cannot edit a single selected area and flip only that, if they're on the same layer - as per adjustments - selected layers should isolate effects to selected (marquee'd) 5/ Layer names are just accessed too easy. Copying layers and you're in the "layer" but thinking you're on the artboard. 6/ Colour picker . When you swap to tool the swatch goes to "background" colour ESC is a really useful shortcut. SHIFT/ALT also critical for tools and mouseclick + ALT seems completely overlooked.. Sometimes the app seems just goes into some weird dead zone, you can't select or deselect anything, nothing happens and you got no clue what's going on. There's a flicker in sharpness/focus. This is just what I noticed. I might be wrong and the app has novel approaches I haven't figured out. Best regards
