I found a tutorial on this for Photoshop and I had it working in my old Photoshop years ago, but found a spelling mistake and can't work it in Affinity to fix it and no longer have the PSD software to repair it. I'd put a quote on a spiral path and my text gradually shrank as the line spiraled down to the center. - Affinity really should have made the spiral available by now. It such a pain to make a new spiral each time I need it. I doubt anyone can do this but if there is a magical genie who has a secret they could share I would really be thankful.

I can't get the power duplicator to work when using the arrow keys. I was trying to move one pixel at a time to create a 3D effect. Does it only work with the move tool and the rotation degree box?

Thank you SO much. I adjusted each brush, exported them and reinstalled the categories back into my programs and the work just fine now. Thank you all that helped out. Hugs to you all.

I reproduced it in another file, the other was deleted. But the same thing happened. It doesn't happen to all my brushes but usually it's one's I made in Affinity Photo V1. This probably has nothing to do with it but the preference panels started not keeping my choices so maybe I'll have reinstall it again (2nd time) or go back to V1. I've added pix to help explain better. I added what was happening on each image but if it's not readable I can retype it here. This happens on different brush files at different times. They all worked on Affinity V1 without a problem but are acting up on V2. Right now I'm clicking off in the grey area a few times until I can see if the size is good before using them. I can't see why a layer would appear in the layer panel when there is nothing there.

When I click the rotate cross hair button bar so that I can pick a point to rotate my selection, it shows up way off the document out in gray space sometimes way, way out in space. When I try to move it back onto the page it moves with the select tool however when I let it go it bounces off the document again in another spot. This happened in V1 and I remember reading how to fix it but I can't find where it was I read it. I really hate bother you guys with so many problems and I do search for answers Affinity help, this site and the google before I annoy you. I may not be wording my questions correctly. I do appreciate all your help though.

Not sure how to fix this. When I click a brushes for erase or paint sometimes the image appears sometimes not. But when I resize by brackets or by typing it in the image disappears. Sometimes clicking it on the page will make it reappears however it may not be in the size I need and if I Ctrl+z it disappears again.

Disabling the hardware acceleration seems to have worked Thanks MikeTo. Think this is the first time something really annoying was fixed really easily and free. Thanks for suggestions everybody.

Thanks for the advice everyone. More RAM is an endless vicious cycle of getting more ram, then you update/upgrade and now you need more RAM but if you don't update bugs don't get fixed, viruses invade, software no longer supported. I thought I bought what I would need and could afford. My old PC didn't have AMD and V1 used to freeze up and slow down. Here's hoping MikeTO is right and it's the hardware accelerator. I've turned it off on my PCs before thinking that's where it needed to be turned off and I don't think I turned it off from preferences. Crossing my fingers.

I purchased and installed Affinity Photo, Designer, Publisher 2. Each time I use any of them, they freeze up or are so slow, they appear to freeze. Merge down especially is painfully slow to finish and sometimes crashes. Sometimes the save window won't appear at all, either by File>Save or Ctrl+S. Having more than one file open is a constant wait even in the same software. I've tried the usual helps none of which work, uninstall add-ons, don't run multiple programs, restart Affinity, restart PC, save often and open file under new name. I'm only working on 12x12 inch 300dpi for scrapbook paper not colossal files. I made sure my PC was capable of using the V2. Affinity V1 stalled and froze too; I thought V2 would be fixing this not make it worse. I hope someone can tell me what's going on. Should I just go back to V1 but as I said it is freezes (just not so much}? It seems no matter what computer I get software updates create a huge issue. Microsoft keep bugging me about downloading Widows 11 but I know it'll suck up way too much space forcing people to have to buy new PC just like iPhone and their useless updates. Okay venting over. I realize my PC is not fabulous and if I had a $5000 computer I probably wouldn't have an issue with V2 but is there another answer? Do you mean what update? Affinity Photo 1.10.5.1342 Last night, I again uninstalling and reinstalling affinity-photo-1.10.5.exe. It didn't ask to update this time and it seems okay. I hope it stays fixed. I can't really say I did anything different than the last couple times but it appears to be working because the panel is showing all the brushes and it will let me edit them again. Confusing, but if it works that's good. Sorry to have bothered everyone. But thanks, really. It's nice to know someone is trying to help. Let me know if you need anything from me.

Okay, this is what came up.

An awful lot of these apps came with the PC and Windows and don't want to be uninstalled. I've tried but seem to pop back up, like X Box and Netflix. Settings says I have 99 apps and shell:AppsFolder shown here says 160. Thanks for trying to help me.

Something else I noticed is that when I update three of my color categories, the Grays, Colors, and Gradients Blacks are blank too. I uninstalled and reinstalled and they came back like the textures.

I turned off all my protection and did the reinstall and everything came back, checked and my files and they looked like Ron P. snapshot but then AP said there was a new update available and I installed it. Restarted everything and now I'm back to the same issues. My texture has blanks and the extra files are missing from C:\Program Files\Affinity\Photo\Resources\Affinity Photo. So this must have something to do with the update but I can't see why other people aren't having trouble. I reinstalled AD while I have the protection shut down just in case. It seems to be fine. It has the extra prop files in just in the resource folder.

I have Malwarebytes and Windows Defender. I'll try shutting them down and uninstall and reinstall. Crossing fingers. Would this have affected Designer too?

I don't see one. Screen shot attached of what I have. I may have fixed my immediate problem but not sure if it will stick or why it malfunction. I used to use Photoshop and had lots of brushes. As a back up I created a folder with copies of most of my brushes (hopefully) and imported the same category as Texture 2 and it shows the brushes. I would like to know what's going on but maybe I'll have to redownload periodically. Some brushes wouldn't work in Affinity though they said they downloaded they didn't show up in the panel.

After moving 1.0 folder and restarting AP - I agreed to terms... opened a new document and I have no brushes. I cheked the %APPDATA%\Affinity\Photo\ folder and there is a 1.0 folder. I restarted AP but still have not brushes. No, I haven't any of those software programs installed not that I could find; I know companies sneak them in sometimes but I couldn't find them.

I tried both but still have the same issue. Restarted both Photo and my pc. Really thought one of those would work. Should I turn the acceleration back on? This may be nothing but in the brush panel the little Edit brush icon doesn't open. "Edit brush..." appears when I hover over it but clicking it doesn't do anything. I usually edit by double clicking and just noticed this because I'm trying every thing, Is it supposed to do something? It's not doing anything for the other brush categories either, not just Textures. Thank you for helping me out; I appreciate it.

Hope this is in the right area and that someone can help me figure this out. Some of my texture brush thumbnails (in the brush drop down panel) are blank(ish). The space is there but the picture is gone and number size are missing. If I click on them they work but I don't know which one I'm choosing. When I double click the edit brush window opens without a sample but it will let me edit it but again I don't know what I'll end up with. This has happened many months ago though restarting fixed it but this hasn't helped this time and it's been days. Any smart folk out there have ideas. Screen shot of issue attached.
