GTech got a reaction from PixelEngineer in Does Affinity offer export to pdf/x-1a:2001?
Just to add that a PDF/X-1a:2003 PDF file created with Affinity Photo sails through IngramSpark without a hitch. I've published 2 books so far with covers created with Affinity Photo and they've gone through without any errors. Even the covers I used to create with Photoshop would usually throw up a false error regarding 'embedded ICC colour codes', which I usually ignored. With the Affinity PDF/X-1a:2003 output, it doesn't throw up any error at all. It appears to be a much cleaner PDF, and the files are also smaller in size.

The macros using Equations can be written for any target size, but they will not work for pixel dimensions larger than the canvas size. There are workarounds, but they are not elegant.
    The macro has the form:
    Layer > Unlock
    Layer > Rasterize and Trim
Filter > Distort > Equations Enter the following in the x and y fields, substituting your own maximum size, then Apply
       (x/MAXSIZE)*max(h,w)
       (y/MAXSIZE)*max(h,w)
    Document > Clip Canvas
    Layer > Rasterize
Select > Alpha Range > Select Partially Transparent
    Edit > Fill> Inpainting
    Select > Deselect
Just replace MAXSIZE with your target maximum dimension.
You may find that you do not actually need the resize macros. Set up your batch file using the change dpi macro, then enter your target maximum in both the W and H boxes, and ensure the Aspect Ration (A) box is ticked.

Has anyone successfully used Publisher to make a PDF that works on IngramSpark? I really want to give up InDesign and move to Publisher, but it won't work unless I can make a PDF that IS will accept. They say they want PDF/X1‑a:2003 or PDF/X‑3 (2003). I don't see that on the drop down menu for exporting to PDF in Affinity. Is there a work around?
