  1. Latest update. I deleted Myriad Pro from Font Book. I opened the last version of the file in Publisher and deleted about 50 text blocks with Myriad Pro - some with actual text, others blank. I saved as PDF and was then able to open in Designer - albeit with some changes to layers and the loss of pre-set slices - but at least I can access the file and was able to save a simple change. It does appear that it was a font problem with certain fonts (Myriad Pro?) but it may also in part be due to it being a file that was originally created in Adobe Illustrator and then converted when I changed to Affinity. I've been able to work on it without any problem in Affinity 1 but something in Affinity 2 clashed big time. It is exactly the same situation with another file that was originally done in Illustrator, worked fine in Affinity 1 but can't open or if it does open, I can't save in Affinity 2. I went through the same process - opening in Publisher, tidying up and deleting some Lucinda Grande fonts, saving as a PDF and re-opening in Affinity 2. At least there is some progress and I know of a work around. I think it only affects files that were originally in Illustrator, then converted and updated annually for a repeat event. I'll keep using Affinity 2 with fingers crossed. Thanks for the suggestions. Mike
  2. Just tried to open file you sent. No joy. File just doesn't open. When I have time I'll try deleting some fonts.
  3. Sorry - in the middle of other reports so can't take a look till tomorrow.
  4. Rea Really appreciate all the help. A font problem as the root cause makes sense. I'll try various options tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Happy Christmas.
  5. I just opened a pdf from the last time everything was working fine - and it opened OK as an Affinity file. All the layers are a bit of a mess - but at least I've been able to open it. I don't know if there'll be anything else missing from the original Affinity file but it's a start. Even with a few days of work missing. But still worried everything is going to fall over again.
  6. Lots of fonts. But will try. Will try later - I've got to do some work that doesn't involve grumpy apps.
  7. All from internal storage. Have just uninstalled Designer, rebooted Mac, reinstalled latest Designer - and it still refuses to open problem files, including the one opened OK by Murfee.
  8. Thanks for all the help - much appreciated. For an uninstall do you know if there are certain files (other than the app) that need to be removed?
  9. All tried - many times - including resetting PRAM. Most of the files I try to open are legacy files. In both Affinity 2 and Affinity Beta, it says that 1 document is loading - but it just hangs, requiring a force quit. I'm struggling....
  10. Murfee Thanks for trying file. I'm using Montery (12.6) - and can't open the file that you were able to open and change. It's all very confusing and frustrating. It used to just work. Now I'm in a bit of a death spiral.
  11. Thanks. Have downloaded Beta and version 2.03. I can’t open affected files in either version. Here's one of the affected files - can you open? Mike 23CWC Village.afdesign
  12. The response and silence from Affinity is deafening. Now files created in Affinity Designer 2 are crashing when I try to make changes. And of course I can't open in Designer 1 to fix. Can anyone from Affinity help? It looks like moving to Designer 2 was a big mistake - in terms of both payment and production. What can I do? Apart from go back to Illustrator?
  13. I've just loaded Affinity 2 on a different laptop. Opened the file and once again I can't save. This is a critical file that I can't open and use, either in Affinity 1 or 2. What can I do? Help!
