Latest update. I deleted Myriad Pro from Font Book. I opened the last version of the file in Publisher and deleted about 50 text blocks with Myriad Pro - some with actual text, others blank. I saved as PDF and was then able to open in Designer - albeit with some changes to layers and the loss of pre-set slices - but at least I can access the file and was able to save a simple change. It does appear that it was a font problem with certain fonts (Myriad Pro?) but it may also in part be due to it being a file that was originally created in Adobe Illustrator and then converted when I changed to Affinity. I've been able to work on it without any problem in Affinity 1 but something in Affinity 2 clashed big time. It is exactly the same situation with another file that was originally done in Illustrator, worked fine in Affinity 1 but can't open or if it does open, I can't save in Affinity 2. I went through the same process - opening in Publisher, tidying up and deleting some Lucinda Grande fonts, saving as a PDF and re-opening in Affinity 2. At least there is some progress and I know of a work around. I think it only affects files that were originally in Illustrator, then converted and updated annually for a repeat event. I'll keep using Affinity 2 with fingers crossed. Thanks for the suggestions. Mike

I just opened a pdf from the last time everything was working fine - and it opened OK as an Affinity file. All the layers are a bit of a mess - but at least I've been able to open it. I don't know if there'll be anything else missing from the original Affinity file but it's a start. Even with a few days of work missing. But still worried everything is going to fall over again.

The response and silence from Affinity is deafening. Now files created in Affinity Designer 2 are crashing when I try to make changes. And of course I can't open in Designer 1 to fix. Can anyone from Affinity help? It looks like moving to Designer 2 was a big mistake - in terms of both payment and production. What can I do? Apart from go back to Illustrator?

Having upgraded to Designer 2, on Mac 12.6, I am having major problems. Some (but not all) files created in Designer 1, cannot be saved after the simplest of actions. The screen freezes at "Save document" and all I can do is Force Quit. The problem is that once a file is opened in Designer 2, I can't open in Designer 1. I've tried re-installing the App but no change. Other files can be opened and worked on OK. At the moment its about 50% of the old files that I've opened where there is a problem. It's all a bit of a nightmare and severely affecting my confidence in Affinity. Mike

I have some files originally created in Designer 1 (Mac). When I open in Designer 2, I can make changes but I am unable to save. The app stalls, freezes and doesn't save, requiring a Force Quit. I have tried duplicating files but as soon as I make a change, a save is not possible. This has happened with two legacy files so far. Other legacy files are behaving properly. I can open the affected files in Designer 1 and make changes and save no problem . I don't want to have to work with both apps, especially as 2 is a big improvement. Any suggestions? Screengrab of stalled save attached. Thanks Mike
