Shotster Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 I noticed that symbols can be created out of artboards and layers. However, although such symbols have the orange stripe along the left edge of the layer in the layers panel, they don't have the "(symbol)" identifying text in the layer name (as opposed to symbols created from groups). Is there any reason not to create symbols out of layers and art boards? They seem to work ok, although it's a bit annoying to have the artboard name in the upper left of each artboard symbol cluttering the design. -Steve Quote
v_kyr Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Well for the identifying text I could imagine, since ArtBoards have usually a higher order document like container behaviour, it might be more essentiell here, to indicate those then still as an "(ArtBoard)" instead of "(Symbol)" for their textual layer representation. Same with layers, aka "(Layer)" vs "(Symbol)" text then here. - And since we always have the orange stripes as main/primary symbol part indicators here, the text identifier isn't overall needed.
