Stitching a Panorama from Scans

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I bought a poster because I wanted to make it into a wallpaper.

So I scanned it in small parts and tried to use New Panorama to create one stitched foto from it.

While typically a lens has a bent picture scans are completely straight, but can have a slight rotation.

So I wished there was a why to simple prevent the stitching from any lens factor parameters and only allow affine transformations position+rotation.

The current result has the attached kind of edge (it's a bit hard to see how it's bent as there is due to the bending also a miss rotation going on)

All the best

   Christoph

You need a stitching software that has an option for lens focal length entry. Specify very long lens, for example 2 degrees lens (this will approximate scanner very well). Try Hugin Panorama, free, good quality, and not extremely friendly UI.
