I used to construct figures in Adobe Illustrator by "placing" an exported eps file from Delta Graph, which has axes, text, and symbols usually. I tried this with Affinity Designer but I could not truly ungroup the eps and get separate text for labels, etc. Have I missed something? I used AI to construct composite figures, resize, and add text or change fonts. Cannot seem to do this with AD.

Ideas, anyone?

Hard to help without the seeing the actual file. In general there is often a clip around the whole design but you can still dig into the design by open the clip group in the layer panel and selecting the object you want. You can also cmd+click objects within and clip groups to select them.

Also you need to Open the EPS file, not place it in an existing document. Once you have Opened it, you can Select All, Copy it, then Paste it into the other document, and then it will be editable.

Thanks very much for this advice. In the PowerPC version of Illustrator the import of my eps files was a bit more convenient, with groups of characters. But this method of opening, copying, and pasting does work. Thanks again!
