I discovered that if you create text boxes and then cut and paste text in them instead of placing the text, you can select single or multiple lines and override any existing styles. This solves the problem of first line indents, lets you create pull quotes, italicize lines or paragraphs, etc. Also. if you place your cursor on a word and click twice the word will be selected, three times and the line will be selected, four times and the entire paragraph will be selected. Some/many of you may already know these things, but they were a big deal to me, Hope they're helpful. Fishers

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I'm unsure what you mean by the problem with first line indents - that sounds like an issue specific to how your text was formatted in another application. When you place rich (formatted) text from a file such as docx or rtf, its formatting will be imported with it. When you copy and paste text, you can choose whether or not you want to paste it with its formatting in tact (Edit > Paste), or as plain text (Edit > Paste Without Format). There are advantages and disadvantages to either approach.

The double-. triple-, quadruple-, and quintuple-click shortcuts are common to most applications. Some apps support only double- and triple-clicking. There are other shortcuts for selecting text, too, using Shift and the arrow keys. You can find more information on this help page:

Or in my free Publisher manual (download from this forum using the link below).

Cheers
