I want to print out selected pages from a book under construction. When I go to 'Print':

If I choose Range: Selection – the 'Pages:' option is greyed out.

If I choose Entire document: and type in the pages I want with commas between each – Affinity Publisher is printing out the entire document.

Am I missing something here?

All ears, Ben

"Selection" is a macOS feature where you select and deselect the pages by clicking the checkmark icons next to the page number on top of each page thumbnail.

If you want to print pages 1-3, just select Entire document and enter 1-3 into Pages. But you must press Tab or Return - from your screenshot, we can see in the preview that all 126 pages are going to print and you haven't pressed Tab.

Hi MikeTO,

Thank you for that. I think I understand. Will try. Will report back if something doesn't work -- meaning I'm misunderstanding.

Very much appreciated ...

Ben

TAB works perfectly. Curious, that the required TAB isn't mentioned in the few tutorials I Googled. Anywhere.

Needing to press Tab in a dialog for the value to be accepted is a bug across the entire Affinity suite - this isn't the way Mac apps normally work. If you did the same thing in an app like Pages, your page range would be accepted without pressing Tab. Most of us are used to it by now and it's become second nature.

It's been reported many times. Here's one of the bug tracking IDs for the New Document dialog but this impacts many dialogs so I don't know why it's logged specifically for New Document.

Like making a new friend. One has to learn the new friend's idiosyncracies before one can truly call it a friendship. Ha ha ha. And sometimes it takes years, decades, to sort out the idiosyncrasies. Oh those suprises. Like discovering your wife works for the Secret Service after ten years of marriage and you thought she was a brain surgeon.

Thank you kindly MikeTO ... just printed out two books worth of poems; now only need to decide which poems go in which book.
