Drexus Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I've done some looking around both in these forums and online. However, the question still remains: How can I change the pan direction for the Magic Mouse without changing it for my entire computer? To me, the trackpad on the Magic Mouse acts like a window to your artwork. Naturally, I move my artwork as though it were on my desk, by giving it a shove with my fingers. Thus, the intuitive action expected when panning around my artwork, my gestures mimic the direction the page should slide. Unfortunately, the both pan axis are reversed for me. Is there an option someplace where I can reverse the pan direction, or is this a feature request? Thanks. Quote
nickbatz Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Turn it upside down! Furthermore, they call the default scrolling direction "natural scrolling" (System Settings->Mouse). If you leave that on, you'll have what you're looking for without standing on your head. Now, I find "natural scrolling" so unnatural it's perverse, and reversing the mouse direction would drive me crazy! But the Magic Mouse is symmetrical, so the only thing that would be bad is that the button areas would move to the bottom. Quote

Creative work methods aside, introducing "swap magic mouse X-pan, Y-pan direction" as a Settings option would make more sense, given the effort to implement seems minimal. Quote

The thing is, you're the only person in this multiverse who would want that. EDIT: I don't mean that to sound snarky! But it's true - this is a very obscure feature request, just as Joe Zawinul was the only person who reversed his synthesizer keyboard. Quote
