I am using charts/graphs created in excel as images in my book.  When I create the graph in excel, I cut/paste the graph as a picture in excel, then 'save as a picture' and save it in my computer.  I then 'place' the picture in a picture frame in the text.

Only problem is that when the picture (.png) is placed in the frame, it is of a lower quality and blurry even though it is crystal clear in excel and when I preview it before placing it in the book.

Any thoughts?

Try copying/pasting your chart directly from Excel to Publisher.  Never mind saving it as a picture first.  That will probably give you a much better result.  We were talking about this here recently:
