I've been attempting to import and format an Excel document over several pages. Horrendously slow work. I've given up....back to Indesign for me. Anyone else find it a similar tedious job?

Publisher cannot currently handle tables which span multiple pages so importing a large Excel document over several pages will not work, unless you manually split it up.

Serif are aware that multi-page tables are something that people would like to have.
