Hi,

I went through the many problems of most of you: I am stock photographer. I started a happy workflow with Lightroom, for several years, everything looked perfect… then came the mercenary Adobe subscription and the castle fell.

I didn't even worry about migration anymore, I was willing to start all over again. My lifeline was the Photo Mechanic associated with Affinity Photo. It got much better with Photo Mechanics Plus, with the possibility to create Collections. I write my metadata in a sidecar-file, and the beauty of it is that even if I want to change programs, I take my Info with me.

Admittedly, the desire for a unified DAM remains and it would be quite a pleasant surprise if Affinity were secretly working on their Lightroom-like app.

I agree and it would be cool to see Serif's implementation of such a product. I was in the same predicament trying to navigate away from the dual Lightroom versions Adobe pushed and settled on using Photos on Mac along with AP. The Photos app extensions made for a passable solution and now with Photomator released for Mac along with Pixelmator Pro/Affinity Photo it may have potential. Are you on Mac or Windows?

I am on Mac, and my big concern is about Caption and Metadata, very important on my workflow. I care to not depend from a specific app. I generate the Info in Photo Mechanic, storing in the image itself (sidecar). I store in a text editor too, Scrivener, where I like to write. After the bad Lightroom experience it seem that I found a raisonable balance beetwen yext and image.
