Ken Driver Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Text styles keep remembering what I did before and it drives me crazy. For example, importing a new story from Word into a Publisher publication intending to use my defined paragraph style, the text randomly appears blue or red and/or all caps, which might have been something I did previously to specific characters using character styles. I have to remember to change character styles back to 'No Style' and re-apply the black text paragraph style to the story. Is there a Preference somewhere where I can tell Publisher NOT to remember previous actions? iMac Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017. macOS Monterey v12.1 Quote
MikeTO Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Hi @Ken Driver and welcome to the forums. When you place an MS Word file into Publisher, the placed text will normally have the original formatting from Word. But if the MS Word text doesn't include a colour specified and you're pasting it into red text then the placed text would be made red. You could make your Word styles include the colour black or you could just reset the style in Publisher before placing as you're doing now. There's no preference setting to change this. Ken Driver Posted March 16, 2023 Author Posted March 16, 2023 The problem lies mostly with character styles, which persist even if I set those to 'No Style' before placing Word text. Pity there is no preference to fix that. Thanks for your reply Mike. (I have been away for 3 weeks, hence my delay in responding). Quote
