Anna Gabiz Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Hi. I am a new user of Affinity publisher. I have a file which became too long and it's been hard to work with it on my computer. I would like to know. Is it possible divide my original file and make my anchors and hyperlinks still working? Because they aren't when I do it. I'd like to divide it in different files using the books panel, I know that it is possible if I had a table of contents, howeverI don't have table of contents, I have just a bunch of anchors and hyperlinks instead scattered across the pages.🤪 I am going to export to pdf interactive(I am doing a planner for goodnotes/Pdf annotation apps). Thank you so much in advance.    Quote
MikeTO Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Hi Anna and welcome to the forum. Yes you can do this but I'm afraid you're going to break a lot of links in the process. There is no good way to split your document into chapters and avoid breaking the hyperlinks. If you divide the document into chapters before creating a Book and adding the files to it as Chapters, then you'll delete pages with anchors and break the links. If you delete the unnecessary pages from each Chapter file after adding the files to the Book, you'll have duplicate anchors and links, and deleting the unnecessary pages won't match up the remaining links and anchors either. You're not going to lose any anchors, but if you want to do this you're going to have to restore some links. Good luck. Anna Gabiz Posted January 25, 2023 Author Posted January 25, 2023 Thank you so much. I think it's a not a good idea then 🙃.... Do you know if there is something wrong with anchors and Mac? I just read a post about:Creating/Deleting Anchors cause crashing" And I think it is actually my problem. I thought it was about my computer, or because the file was too big, but actually it is not so big as I thought. And the software is still closing every time I try add a new anchor.🤔 Quote

Serif made a change in 1.10.6 to avoid the issue and the problem is not in v2. As long as you're using 1.10.6 or 2.0.0 or later that is not your issue.
