lphilpot Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 This is probably going to be a facepalm 'duh' moment when someone points out the obvious, but I'll ask because I'm not seeing it. 🙃 I understand the utility of a black / white reset button, icon or whatever (personally I just use the 'X' shortcut). But the "button" on the color wheel has behaviors that I don't get beyond just resetting to black or white. For example: "Northwest" black corner clicked: Hue is pure red, luminance is 0%% / black (same as SE corner) "Northeast" white corner clicked" Hue is pure red, luminance is 100% / white "Southwest" white corner clicked" Hue is yellow, luminance is 100% / white "Southeast" black corner clicked" Hue is pure red, luminance is 0% / black (same as NW corner) Clicking either black corner gets an identical result, while clicking white corners gets one of two adjacent colors at max luminance (white). So why have four click points when there are only two possible outcomes? What's the advantage? Thanks... lphilpot Posted January 5, 2023 Author Posted January 5, 2023 I've been doing mask work for the past <while> and obviously have been using only black and white. For whatever reason I've had the color sliders visible, not the wheel. So when I switched to it and saw the "black and white" checkboard, Bob's yer uncle... Thank you very much. 😁 Quote Len Affinity Photo 2 | QCAD 3 | FastStone | SpyderX Pro | FOSS: ART darktable XnView RawTherapee Inkscape G'MIC LibreOffice Windows 11 on a 16 GB, Ryzen 5700 8-core laptop with a cheesy little embedded AMD GPU Canon T8i / 850D | Canon EF 24-70mm F4L IS USM | Canon EF 70-200mm F4 L USM | Rikenon P 50mm f/1.7 | K&F Concept Nano-X filters ...desperately looking for landscapes in Nolandscapeland Flickr
