Freehand selection tool suggestion

Hello, as I work on photos, and sometimes need skiping to another programs like mails, skype, etc. I loved the way V1 selection tool worked.

If you were in the middle of using selection tool, you could use other programs and then skip back to Photo and continue using selection tool.

 

From V2 this isnt possible, it desellects whole path when you skip to another program, you have to use selection tool from the beggining then.

Can it be made again ?

 

Is there somewhere info about upcoming updates, what is worked on now ?
