Astrogeezer Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 Hi, I have a bird photo where I clipped the wing. I was wondering if someone knew how to clone a wing (probably from the other wing) so, that in the resulting photo, the bird will appear intact and whole. This is the photo that I would like to work from. Apparently, this is something that can be done in Photoshop. Quote

One way would be to use the clone brush (see: clone brush). Another way would be, to select a part of one wing, copy/paste that part selection, so you get it as new layer. Then to flip horz/vert/rotate that wing part and arrange it over the bird part where you want it to be added. - Afterwards if wanted you can merge the two layers together. wings.afphoto I've used above the last method and leaved the two important layers just grouped together, so can take a look on them. - Usually for a bitmap image/photo I would afterwards merge the two layers together. Astrogeezer Posted December 18, 2022 Author Posted December 18, 2022 Hi v_kyr, I understand the second method in concept. I just don't know what commands to use as my knowledge of Affinity is very limited. Step by step, 1. To select a part of one wing (Do I use the lasso tool?) 2. To Copy/paste that part selection (How do I copy and where do I paste it to?) 3. To flip horz/vert/rotate that wing part and arrange it over the bird part where you want it to be added (What command or tools do I use to manipulate the wing part?) Thanks. Quote

You can use the Lasso tool etc., though it's much easier with the "Selection Brush Tool (W)". When you have a selection just press copy (Cmd-/Ctrl-C, or from the top menu Edit -> Copy) then select the "Move tool (V)" and afterwards just paste (Cmd-/Ctrl-V, or from the top menu Edit -> Paste). This should create a new layer then with just the previous made selection part on top of the layers panel. Select that layer so the wing part is selected on screen and move it where you need it to be placed on top of the orig bird drawing. When you have the wing part layer selected in the layers panel with the Move tool (the onscreen shown wing part has now a shown selection box around), perform from the top menu "Arrange -> Flip horz" or "Arrange -> Flip vert" etc. And use the onscreen shown bounding box top handle around the wing part to rotate it, alternatively you can also rotate it via manipulating the "R:" settings degree value box in the Transform panel.
